Direct clutch backing plate 2004R

I am putting together a list of parts for my rebuild and would like to know if the backing plate is suppose to be flat or if it is normally cupped or umbrella shaped? I know I severely over heated the direct clutch but I did not know if that is how the backing plate is suppose to be. I don't think this plate is included as part of the std rebuild kit (it is a pretty thick plate).
