My directscan will not link for some reason. The port settings are correct and it worked fine in the past. I haven’t used it in awhile because my laptop would not start up. That is fine now so I tried it out but no luck. I cleaned all the connections on the computer and every pin. I checked continuity on every wire on the ribbon cable as well as the printer cable. I’m guessing that something has gone wrong in the Directscan hardware. I checked all the solder joints inside and also checked the diodes. Not sure if anyone knows how to check it or fix it? Just looking for suggestions.

What operating system is installed on the laptop? Direct Scan only works with operating systems that support DOS.

In order to run Direct Scan on Windows XP I think you have to run in Computability Mode. XP will not directly run DOS programs.
