Do I need to tap my frame to mount my braces?

I finally got some used braces that tie the frame horns to the front cross member.

It looks like on the cross member the braces attach to the welded block that sits just forward of the cross member?

If so, I am going to guess the holes that are already there must be tapped?

Because it doesn't look like you can insert a typical bolt in there for the brace to attach to.

Or am I looking at the wrong holes?

Thanks in advance.

Those are the right holes.... the bolts you use should be self tapping.... at least the ones that came with my (factory) braces were... I'll try and see if I can give you the exact bolt sizes tomorrow... I have to go to the hardware store tomorrow and I'll match up the extra one I have with one there....

Thanks. I bought my brace kit used, and it came with two body style bolts and two typical bolts.

Please let me know what size self tapping bolt you find out that I need. I plan to do this in the morning.

Yep, regular bolts/nuts for one end and rather large self-tapping bolts for the other... don't know how early I'll get the the hw store though... given the current time... I better get to bed now....

Be certain not to overtighten those self-tappers. The metal is a light gauge in that spot, and it's easy to strip the holes out.

i used a tap for mine - dont know what size off the top of my head but i used regular bolts - not the self tappers...

Thanks. if anyone knows what size self tapping bolt I need please let me know.
