Got my T just over 2 months ago , annnnnd I'am already thinking about selling it. It's not that I don't like the cars. I feel I wanted one so bad, that I bought the car just because. I feel I got a solid deal for this car being it has all the documents and records from original owner. I just told myself I would never buy a car that needs paint, which this car does. It also needs the interior redone. I find myself looking at 78-80 malibu's , 62-64.68-72 nova's . 83-87 cutlass's and even NA Regals. All these cars have in common are SBC's. Not saying I don't like being different and I sure won't do a swap. Just really undecided , and I can't have both right now. Not sure I want to throw any more mod's at the car being its just about stock besides injector's and a few other odd's and end's that can easily be swapped. Just looking for some opinions, Do I just hold onto the car and wait till I can buy one of those car's I listed, or sell the T grab one of those cars and buy another T down the road. Or do I throw some more goodies at the car. Like I said Love the car but I shouldnt want other cars if this is meant to be now should I? Or is it just the way it is..And I need both to be happy...

you didnt say if you have been driving it . Either way sleep on it a while. I almost sold mine twice for similar reasons and I am really glad I didn't. The uniqueness and performance potential , even in stock or near stock form is good reason to stick with it but if driving it doesn't do it for you then pass it on down the road.

I do drive it and it changes my mind.. Maybe when I get this feeling I need to take her for a spin.. Like I said it goes through my head atleast once or twice a day

Think the 15lbs has gotten old to me. Think I need to crank her up as much as I can, safely..

If you sell it will you be able to afford another car that doesn't need paint and interior? Do you want a show car or a performance car?

I want all three. A car that I can show, but realistically is a 10footer something thst has decent paint. Just too many assholes around here for a new paint job. I want a cruiser and I want a car I can take to the track. I may not be able to afford the nicer car right now if I sell ,But come spring time I will. But with winter coming she will be just hibernating , I'll sit on it over the winter.

Find some Buick folks near you. Go for a ride in a fast one. It will change your mind...
I have a friend with a Big Block LS6 Chevelle. That car always felt like it was wrinkling the pavement it was so powerful. He had a GN as well. It always felt faster to me.

I rarely drive my cars anymore (too busy with a million other things)- so, I often think about selling but once I get in and go for a drive, the stupid grin comes back and the car is safe for a while.

Maybe you can find some small projects to do on the car over the winter while she sits. Once spring comes around, you'll be ready to go and the car will be that much closer to what you had originally envisioned.

no matter what its a bad time to sell. wait till spring. if it needs paint and youre like me, dont want the stress expense of a paint job sell it and maybe get something that needs small mechanical issues fixed. bit no matter what route you go ita going to be $. just be preparred to play

Any of those other choices will need the same work. Just keep it drivable while you work on it. Nothin puts a smile on my face.like a blast through the gears.

These cars are different, the people that own them are also different:confused: BUT I went from 2 cars with V8s and nothing brings a smile to my face like my Buicks. I like the learning curve and the challenge. I just think the Chevy and even the LS thing is just over rated. JMHO:D

Thanks guys. I've got a buddy down the road with a 11.70's GN. I've gone for a spin and yeah it's badass. I think I'm going to take a drive today. Maybe get this stupid thought outta my head. I feel lucky I got into this car for so cheap and it would be just dumb to get rid off. Even if the interior and paint needs fixing. I planed on putting fillers on, valve springs and timing chain this winter. It sucks that the paint is solid everywhere except the hood, roof and trunk lid, damn clear coat chipped off.

No one is is worse than me, I go from selling to going LS to keeping it "as is" in the same conversation in the same sentence. The bottom line is if you are not happy with the car you will NOT be able to get rid of the thoughts of selling it.

My patina is an acquired taste. They are only original once. I put front fillers on(helps that mine is black). Saving for rears but that doesn't keep me from driving it. You might think of having it "cut" to get the clear coat off and just reclearing . Lots of real talented detailers and bodymen/painters that can fix the unfixable and make it look good. Just have to ask around or do some googling and try it yourself.

Yeah, Does not help my T is light blue. But I been driving it around without front and rear fillers since I got it. With one hood emblem on and one off. My buddies are detailers. Not sure if they are on the level of taking clear coat off or not. But, Ive thought about going to Maaco and getting a cheap paint job. My buddy got his Cutlass painted there and things looks great after 5 plus years for only 3-400 bucks might not be a bad option.

It's not that I'm not happy with the car. It's just I have the urge to want other cars , and I feel I should not feel that way. Maybe off this one, and buy one with nicer paint and a few more mod's , so I don't have to dump more money into it. Oh yeah , one without T -tops

it's a car, no matter which one you get you will dump money in it. My tensioner is making noise. I guess it needs a bearing. Fortunately I have a few extras to try while I wait on a new bearing to press into the original. Just a perk of having the same beater for a long time. I collect stuff I know I might need when I see it cheap.

Heck, if your car doesn't flip the switch, clean it up and sell it. No harm in that. No sense in hanging on to it just because.

Well I do know , she is staying with me rest of the fall and over the winter. Guess it comes down to just being undecided.

If that's only how bad the paint is you musty be kidding. I would kill for my paint to look half that well. Keep it make, it faster and enjoy it.

My car started as fairly simple things that needed to be fixed, but is now a full frame off. 7 years and counting to prove that a B4black car can be fast and fun but funds are a major issue. I keep thinking of getting rid of all of it, but she's still here.;) If you get rid of her you'll just end up wanting another, trust me.:D

It seems as if your major issue is paint... I've been fooling with these cars since my first one in 92/93 (It's been a while so it's hard to remember).
Anyway, I've gone through a few of them and I've always been hung up on having a nice appearance. In retrospect, I think it was a mistake. Don't get me wrong, a beautiful paint job and perfect interior is a fine thing to have (my current cars are both near perfect) but, there is something to be said for a "bucket" as the "boss" and I refer to a few cars we've owned.

I'm here because I love Turbo Buicks. It's been a love affair from the beginning. That being said, my near perfect cars rarely leave the garage. They only come out in perfect weather. Neither has seen water in over 9 years! They're garage queens and sort of a hassle. We did have another Buick once. It was a "bucket". It had rust, terrible peeling, chipping paint and torn up, faded purple window tint. We drove it everywhere- even to the grocery store! No one ever gave it a second look. I never worried about dents, dings, scratches, or even thieves. It was a true joy. It is the Only car we regret selling.

IMHO you have the perfect car! The paint is worn and the color is such that it doesn't attract any attention. I say, get the basics handled so you don't blow it up and then play around with making it reliably faster. Some Alky or E-85 will surely wake her up. Drive the car and enjoy it. If you're still on the fence next summer, then consider parting with her. (Hell, pm me and maybe we can work out a trade. I always wanted a blue TR)

Good Luck.
