Bwhaaa HA HA HAA!!!! That picture is hilarious above!!! Exactly!!!! McHomey da Clown- Loves da Buick REgals!! Raise em Up, and Shaddup! If they catch our Buicks driving down the street, they like to follow our cars, steal them, and then it's pretty much just another statistic.

I hear you, but is that only on turbo Regals? Or is that any g body Regal?

I used to have an 84 Regal 2 door, never had anyone chasing after me about it but I did have a few blacks stop by my house/signal me to roll down my window while in traffic, asking me if I'd be willing to sell it......put it up for sale and everyone who called on it was black, ended up being a black guy buying it for his son. So yeah your statement is right.

Can't say I've seen too many blacks actually owning a TR.

These cars have a lot of appeal alright. To the African Americans as well!!! Black people love these cars, and I think that that's what is the big difference between our cars and the 60/70's Muscle Cars. Yeah, Black people also love the older Chevy Impalas/Chevelles etc, but this is why the Turbobuicks can't be driven anywhere easily without having to babysit, or really keep a good on these cars. They have an appeal for 20-24 inch rims, and this is what helps me sometimes look at my car and think that's it's worth as much as it means to me, as the Brothers too- Hey, I'm not predjudice at all, just telling it like it is.

Wow! I'm not one to be "Politically Correct" 100% of the time or to chime in on any explosive commentary, but damn you must really want to hear a rash of crap from the above comments! You may want to reread what you posted, because it comes across much differently to me and anyone else that reads this post.

I think we can all agree that racial comments as stated above are not welcome or to be tollerated on our board. Now if this is a mistake, so be it, and learn from it and move on, but you may want to be careful from what you post in the future. We are here for the Turbo Buick hobbiest no matter who you are. I have met some wonderful people on this board....of every race, gender and religion...two words "Great People" So don't cheapen this board or offend our breatheren by your narrow minded comments...I said my piece...Damn some people, I just don't understand them!

I dont see anything racial about what was said.He said he was not prejudice. I have a bunch of black friends. I also work with about 80 black people.I am not prejudice at all. But lets say i take my car for a ride through elmhurst il and people of all races come up to me and look at car.You really dont have to worry about anything. Now i go for a ride to my buddies house on the south side of Chicago and people come up to look at car.My buddy has to pull a gun out and shoe off the bad guys.He is a Chicago cop and he told me that black guys including himself love gbody cars.He also told me if my car was left on the street it would be gone in no time.He has a gn and a 80 malibu with a 632inch engine. But no one screws around with him.Must be the gun. Anyways his comment may be racial. But that is only if the person that reads it wants to make it racial. I see no harm in what was said but you know someone is going to blow this up.

I have never met a person that bought a base Regal and really wanted a TR/GN/GNX. I know it happened, but people that knew about these cars went directly after them. That "crossover" never happened..... and never will IMHO.

QUOTE]

The first car I ever bought was an '83 Regal Limited. This was the fall of '87 as I started my senior year of HS. I remember bugging my dad to no end about the GNs that we'd see on dealer lots. I was fine with the padded top, whitewalls and Barcalounger seats, but I swore that someday that car would grow up.

Nearly 20 years later, I finally got a GN and my wife gave me all sorts of crap about my mid-life crisis. I explained that something you've waited on for more than half your life is not a m-l crisis. Am I the exception here?

Hay hounddogs you and i are about the same it was my high school dream to own a Regal (did not care if it was base model or a GN) But the closes that i got in school was an 80 Olds Delta 88. but 10 years ago i got mine and it is only a Limited but i love it

I dont see anything racial about what was said.

Are you sure? You might want to read it again....

"Yeah, Black people also love the older Chevy Impalas/Chevelles etc, but this is why the Turbobuicks can't be driven anywhere easily without having to babysit, or really keep a good on these cars."

Here's the sentence again with the word "thieves" substituted for "Black people":

"Yeah, thieves also love the older Chevy Impalas/Chevelles etc, but this is why the Turbobuicks can't be driven anywhere easily without having to babysit, or really keep a good on these cars."

Yeah, ok. Italians back in the day Loved driving Cadillacs, but also the Brothers loved Driving Cadillacs as well back in the day.... what's the big deal?

Black people do have a very strong attraction to our cars. I have a few African American friends, and I'm a Paisano or Italian. The few friends I have know what my car is, but if I ever take my car anywhere, I usually get quite some looks from the Brothers. Some of them, are very admirable of my car. Half of them think it's a Monte Carlo.

I've probably got more black/african american friends than the guys who tried to comment that I was being racial. I'm not.

Oh, and by the way- I think Obama is the best candidate for the Democratic Party this time as well! So there!

I'm black. I love G-bodys. I've owned 3 turbo regals. The comments made above were racially offensive, im gonna report it. McHomie da clown? all kinds of people love all kinds of cars.

"I'm sooo sorry Mr The Don for possibly offending you.... Please, Pretty Please, forgive me, because I intended no harm to you, Sir. I'm sooooo sooooo sorry.

Now, getting back to the value of Turbobuicks. I think they're worth as much as people are willing to pay for them, but personally I think the average Turbobuick is worth between 10-15k for the 86/87's in decent shape. I wouldn't pay 20k for a Turbobuick unless it was either really low mileage or had quite a few performance parts on it. 25,000 for a really low mileage Turbuick (which I'll never own) and 30k for one which is pristine with a lot of good performance parts-

GNX's are a whole different story. But If I had the $, I'd pay 40,000 for a GNX with a few miles on it. Nothing over that. I'd rather have a kewl Brand New Challenger or new Supercharged Corvette.

The value of these cars are not going to be enough to retire on as some may want. I had G-body's ever since i was 16 and i love the cars I bought a TR becuase it is the best G-body produced performance wise. Most people dont know or care about what a GN is becuase to them they all look the same. Most people think that my T is my Cutlass from high school. As for modifying them people of all races and backrounds modify g-body cars nobody metions all the cars seen in lowrider magizine. puting 13inch wires and switches is just as bad as lifting it and puttin 26inch wheels on it, but its there cars people are entitled to do what they want with they're cars and maybe you wont buy it but somebody will, some people are into Donks and or lowriders and they will purchase these cars. A TR is not gods gift to automobiles and imoho A GN or TR will not be worth 75k they are not as desirable as some may think

Yeah I was getting ready to say it's not just blacks who like G bodies, the latino crowd also likes them, especially for putting on their hydraulics.
