I installed one when Performance was in business. What the guy on ebay doesn't know is that (those dashes are like trying to find hens teeth) it took 7 weeks to get it after I had payed for it. Then there were things I had to get like that black piece to the right shaped like a U. I had to search to get it. It was difficult to find at wreckers. And most guys wouldn't sell just that piece. Hard to understand, but they wanted to sell the entire dash. Then you have to cut it in several spots, following the template that was sent.
I wanted to keep the original, so I could sell it separately when/if I sold the car. Then I had to get the clear piece made that went over the gauges. I put in a similar extra light, that lit when the alchy was activated. By the time I payed for all of this stuff + shipping, I was into it for about $1650.00. Then tack on the trips to the wreckers and hunting for the extra bulb that cost a friggin' fortune and the cost doesn't seem out of line. Everything is relative, and I would expect the buyer to be older. I don't think that it will sell, because the people that can afford it aren't frequent ebay types and may not even know that this site exists. Barrett Jackson types are the ones to sell it to. IMO
My brother and I installed mine, he thought the guy did a "hellava" job and he's an electrical engineer who knows his shiet. If you could have seen one up close and looked at the intricate work involved, you might change your opinion. A 9 is a lot more difficult to set up.
The guy that made them couldn't have been making that much on them, considering the hours involved. No wonder he quit or lost interest or ? He probably got pissed. I remember him mentioning that people kept trying to cut him on prices, and they said they could make their own or they would try and buy some gauges and send them to him. Or.. they would take some gauges out of their car and get a few new ones for him to install.

He said he could tell that most couldn't afford to by them, just a bunch of shoppers. Then they would get negative, sort of like saying Ferrari's suck because you can't buy one.
I even had to pay him half of the money up front before he would start work, probably because of losers trying to take advantage of him or saying he was on crack, because they thought he was charging too much.

Or, asking him to start work and then backing out, without putting up any front money.
He probably should have sold his stuff on ebay ONLY.
I had a long distance phone bill, that would choke a giraffe. I forgot about that as far as the total money involved in the purchase.
If you get one of the other dashes, it should come with that "U" piece and the clear one that goes over the gauges. I made an error and sold the car with the gauges after all.
Without all the crap I had to put up with, I'd say that price isn't bad, since all the stuff that (I) had to do is already there.
I did the speedo in white and the rest of the gauges in black. After I got it I wished that I had gotten all white gauges, because the black ones were hard to see. If you get one, I wouldn't get black because they're difficult to see at a quick glance. He also said that autometer was the way to go, as he had electrical problems ? with the other brands.
Here's the wild part...I think I know who he is. If it's the guy that I just saw at the "Toys for Tots" car gathering this past weekend out near Thousand Oaks, I don't think he would relist at a cheaper price. Why? He was driving a LAMBO, that wild orange color. Wonder if he needs the money? He's an older guy, who has more than one turbo and he asked me about mine. He didn't say anything about a dash. I know he has a bunch of turbo parts. I would have asked, but I didn't see this until today. I keep asking him about his GNX, but he just smiles and says that his grandson wants it. He goes to a lot of car shows. I even saw him out in Palm Springs at one, he had a GNX at that one.
Guys were always telling me that I paid too much and they could make one just like it. To this day I have never seen one that looks as good as the ones that Tom made. All the negative talk and name calling, reminds me of "Full Metal Jacket." "You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk." Build one if you can, but why put down his work, by saying that it's overpriced. If he bought the dash when I got mine, with inflation it would be way more $ today. If I was him, I'd keep it and sell it in 10 years for a bazillion dollars.
Maybe try a junkyard in New York!
