Does anyone have any pics of the IAT sensor relocated to doghouse?

I am planning to relocate my IAT to the doghouse and I would llike to see some pics of what others have done for ideas. I tried to search the site because I am sure there are pics out there but the search function wont let me search for 3 letter phrases like IAT so its a little tough. Thanks!

I moved mine to the back of the intake. I can try to take a pic but it is below the coilpack. I used the IAT relocation cable from Caspers.

I put mine in the upper plenum but I have a sheetmetal upper. If I find the pic I'll post it.

I haven't thought of putting it in the lower intake, that's a good idea. Did you just center in the open plenum area of the lower? The harness is no big deal because my car is hybrid 67 Fierbird with an LC2 so I have hacked this poor harness every way possible so extending a few wires wont be a big deal.

I put mine in the up pipe. Much easier to do, and no extension cable needed.

When moving this does the tune need to be adjusted?

No. Unless your particular chip is doing something with the air temp readings.

The reason most move it into the intake is to datalog IAT. When usinga DFI it gives a better reading of whats going on. At WOT it doesnt matter if its before or after the TB. Unless you use alky injection then the sensor needs to after the nozzle to read temp.

Yup, Razor's correct.

Many of us run the temp sensor either in the dog house or up pipe because we need manifold inlet temps for running speed density (mafless).

Pros and Cons

Would most of you say that the sensor picks up heat from the dog house though at part throttle and ilde and potentially alters driveability. Then requires a cooling period, which typically isn't that long, before it shows the true IAT at WOT.

I have relocated mine and I don't know that I care for the way it operates in this location. I suppose you can circumvent IAT control by making no fuel adjustments at air temperatures that don't make sense. But I know if the car is just sitting there idling IAT numbers increase substantially in this location????

Thoughts

This sensor MUST be moved from the stock location when using a speed density system. The computer uses this value when calculating the injector pulsewidth. Behind the TB is the most accurate.

Here's mine. It's not in the doghouse but it's close. It's in the intake itself.

Here's a shot of mine.

Dont have any of the ones on the back of the intake. I used braided and AN fittings on all my important stuff. :D

If you are still running a MAF will it affect anything to relocate? I would like to move mine if there are not any reprocussions.

When I purchased my car back in Dec. I noticed the sensor just hanging out in the open. Car still ran great. Should I install it somewhere? Is there a downside?

If your running a stock ecm it won't matter much if it's hanging or even in the intake. This sensor MUST be moved from the stock location when using a speed density system. The computer uses this value when calculating the injector pulsewidth. Behind the TB is the most accurate.

Is this true for the BS3 gen 1 and 3 systems or just the FAST. I remember reading in the BS3 manual that the IAT was only used in Alpha N systems. What is correct?
