I just put new stock headers and a 3" dp on the car and used permatex coper rtv to seal everything. there are no leaks, and the car sounds much much better, but there was some smoke from the parts where the rtv was. is this normal, or do i still have leaks that i cannot hear?

The smoke is normal with the RTV. Expect it to take a few minutes at normal operating temp before it goes away.

thanks, i shut it off right away cause i thought there was a problem, but i jsut let it run for about 5 mins and it all went away.
thanks james

It smells even better when you use neverseize on the bolts. ;)

Just fixed a leaky crossover pipe today.

Now the headers are leaking a bit at the collector drivers side. :(

yea, it still stinks! but at least it doesnt leak anymore. salvage, howd you seal the crossover, i think i may have a tiny leak from the driver side.....

87gninpa, dont forget that your oil from your skin goes all over the metal and will burn up to. I dont think it is the rtv, it is probably the grease and oil that was on your skin, give it a couple of hours running time, ti will burn away.
