I found this on a website I came across. I didn't know if this was outdated info or not. The site also talks about upgrading to a stainless line so I thought it may be a little old. Does anybody know if this still works or did Steve already perform this on his later kits?

From Steve:Here's a mod for the SMC kit to increase pump pressure quite a bit.
1: Remove cover from in car speed control.
2: See the little grey box?
3: Turn blue adjuster on grey box fully clockwise.
4: Now replace in-line 10 amp fuse with a 20 amp one.
That's it!

That would have been possible on older kits. But when you get to 12volts.. there is no more to be had. Unless i'm wrong, usually the max output will be approx 10.5-11v on the pump with 13 volts in. You can verify this with a voltmeter connected across the pump wires.

Some have wired relays to wire 13 volts to the pump to get additional volume, but this can hurt the pump. If you need more flow out of a small pump, easy way is add additional nozzle's' and dont run it as hard.

HTH..

BTW.. a lot of us were in KY for the nats :D

Must be nice. I'll make it out there one year. Thanks for the response. I was thinking of upgrading to the dual line kit. I came across this little trick and was just curious if it still worked or if it was just outdated. I want the dual line kit and the new "progressive" type controller they have. I hear great things about yours. Do you have any comments on how the SMC controller works? Thanks again for your time Razor.

I believe the problem unless its been addressed recently is that you cannot vary the ramp on his controller. You can change the turnon point, but not how aggressive it ramps up. Also at 20 PSI it no longer ads any more. Its more suited for the imports. This is the best I have been able to research based on posts at a few boards.

I've not heard of any feedback on this forum of its use with a GN application. Actually any application.

I'm not here to bash Steve and his product. Lots of owners are very content with their SMC kits. I just do a few things a little different. My progressive controller is unique.

Thanks for the reply. Too late now to buy your kit though. I had just bought the SMC kit a few weeks before my car went down so I still haven't even tuned it yet. Any way your controller will hook up to an SMC kit? If not you may want to try to make it work because alot of guys would buy it for their own SMC kits. Not many of us can sell out kits for what we got in it and buy another kit so making a controller that is universal looks like a good seller to me. Just my opinion though.

My PAC will work on an SMC bottle. Tho a 3 bar sensor will also be needed. So a 3 bar is 70.00 plus the PAC 189 = 259.00

shhh.. dont let this out, sell the smc kit for 250 on the board, add 230 and get a kit that has a larger tank, filter, external pump, etc.. shhh.. :) ...

See there are other ways to sometimes accomplish the same thing.
