I had my car out yesterday for a drive. I decided to get on it a bit the car pulled hard 24 lbs of boost [ i have a razors kit] than it fell on its face this was in 3rd gear at 90 some miles an hour , scanmaster 785 o2 and 39.5 degrees of retard, I usaly see 0 degrees of knock 0.2 at the most. So i thought i blew a head gasket i pulled over a let the cool down a bit and the oil and coolant didnt mix so i drove it home i got on it a few more times on the way home and it seams to be pulling just as hard as it did befor 39.5 retard iam guessing that was fales knock. What do you guy think?

knock

was it progressive knock? As in 2, 5, 9, 16, etc. If it steadily goes up then it is real. Did you hit the purge button just before driving to make sure that you have alky in the lines and that the injection was spraying? Also what gear were you in and what mph did it occur at? If it was on a 1/2 shift or a 2/3 shift it will just light up one solid number if it is shift related. If you were at the top of 3rd I am inclined to think it was real. 30 something degrees is enough to hurt something.

the knock was not progressive it just lit up 39.5 and i lifted. i dont think it was on a shift.

knock

it wasnt the top of third.

Well that is a good sign atleast we hope. Do you have good front upper bushings in your a arms? Does your downpipe clear the frame rail? It could be hitting there causing a knock detection. If it was not top of 3rd or it was not progressive I would think your ok. Did you hear any detonation? Normally 40 degrees is enough to hear  I would inspect the vehicle for broken control arm bolts or body bushing bolts. I would think with that kind of torque you could have broken something metallic and it happened on a pull. The knock sensor could pick something like that up.

i didnt here any knock but it pulled so much timming the car fell on its face. I have new tubular controll arms down pipe clears frame will have to check the body bolts.

My old TTA would show 39 degree's at 38-40 MPH. Rite on the 1-2 shift at WOT. Tranny would hit very hard..

If ever in doubt, drop the boost. And ease into the pedal watching boost and knock. If there is a problem.. you can catch it pretty fast.

If the alky tank is going down after every run.. its doing its job.. but remember an alky kit cant fix blown hoses off of FPR, or a bad fuel pump.. or bad injector.. or bad MAF.. etc..

Bring the boost down to 15 and work your way back up.
