Downpipe coatings.. what do you like?

Posted this a bit ago and there is some new coatings out there so I figured I'd post again and see if there are any new results. I got my new Mease stainless downpipe on the car and man that thing throws some heat off! It's like tripple the heat (it seems) from the stock downpipe I just took off. My car is not a track car but a street/show car and I don't want to melt my AC in the summer time when going to and from shows. So I think I'll take it off while it's fresh and have it coated with something to knock down all that heat a bit.
So my question is what do you like for a coating? What lasts? What is best to keep heat down? And where from? I called Jet Hot today and they suggested something in the Jet hot 2000 series. I hear that's a ruff looking finish.. They said the Jet Hot Sterling is nice looking coating but it's rated at 1300 and I'm wondering how close that is to peaking out and melting the coating off? The look I'd like is as close to chrome or that stainless look as I can get. I like the look of stainless but I don't want all that heat that comes with it! I did a high heat stainless paint on the exhaust side of the turbo and that seems to work real nice so far. So post away and let me know what you guys like. I'd also like to take it someplace local if possible to get this done. So let me know all the info you can. Thanks in advance! My engine bay is below..

Jet hot 2000 is your best bet. Did mine in their gray color and it looks fine. Not as rough as you would think but no sheen to it which is OK. All my chrome makes up for it. If I ever yank the motor out to paint it I will get the headers and crossover done with it as well.

Here's another idea. Call Thermal Tech Coatings. They have a silver coating good for 2,000 degrees or a 2,400 degree coating, but it only comes in black and grey.

A few people here have used it on headers and DP's with good success.

I had mine HPC coated. I had them done their aluminum ceramic coating. they look like polished aluminum they are really nice. It seems to hold up fine. I have had it on there for at least 6 years and it still looks good. here is a picture

What's that coating you seem to have on your headers?

is it also an HPC coating? and have you been happy with it?

I noted HPC recommends the "HiPerCoat Extreme" , in either black or gray, for temps over 1300º. It seems to be cosmetically similar to "Jet-Hot 2000" coating.

Race Jace, is the turbo housing also HPC'd Hipercoat?

I would imagine the HPC 1300 to do just fine on the DP considering it has much less heat than the headers and turbo exhaust housing.

I would do the HPC Aluminum on the downpipe and the HPC Extreme Black on the turbo housing.

I did the hot jet 2000 gray on my headers, looks good. I did the thdp on just the inside and left the outside uncoated stainless that I'm going to polish. I haven't ran it yet. I thought they were going to put the 2000 on the inside of the dp. But they said they have to use a different coating on the inside so it will cover. We will see if it holds up. If the inside coating holds the temp down, it would seem like you could use the sterling on the outside.
I'm thinking about sending in my exhaust housing on turbo and polishing the inlet side.

i went to lee auto parts and got some vht 1500 engine paint. it smokes when first stared, then it dries and loks great. it is a flat black going to do it to my whole exhaust so it don't rust. it costs 4.00 a can.

Jet-hot silver 1300° on the DP, blue 2000° on the headers. My DP is sooo close to the A/C box in my S-10 swap yet has never shown any signs of melting. I can put my hand on the DP 5 minutes after shutdown...

Does anyone recall how much it would cost, say to jet-hot coat the headers and crossover?

I HPC hypercoated everything headers, DP & Turbo. The headers flaked a little over the years but they still look better than anything else. the turbo and down pipe still look great.

paint on the headers and downpipe won't work. as soon as you build any EGT it will be gone.

The coatings are expendsive but if you are going to keep your buick as long as i plan to then they are a must.

Get a mild steel downpipe instead of the stainless and then take the savings and have it coated. once it is coated it really does not matter if it is stainless or mild steel.
