I was told it had its own BGC Elbow with a more sweeping radius. I have no clue if this is correct ?

I saw one on Kens' car at race day at LVD. Is is a larger radius and 'should' outflow the stock elbow.

I have no idea if it outflows a ported stock elbow.

If it is free the price is right. :)

I believe the BGC has it's own elbow. Saw one recently and the elbow had BGC cast into it.

It's actually a nice piece. We've got one guy up our way that runs one and gets high tens with it,no problems.Good radius[:D ],3" pipe, and the factory style flex joint. If you felt like it,you could work out the inside of the elbow for giggles, and make yourself feel better.

I had one on my car and worked great. That was the only mod done to my car when I bought it.There is a seperate elbow and it looks big. Hog that thing out and it will flow just as much as the other DP, might not need to do anything. I did it because I was bored one day. How much is the person asking for it? If it's a good price I'd go for it. I think I sold mine for $125-150 can't remember. Try checking gnttype, I think I saw some pics a while back.

I think it's worth it unless you have the money for a THDP. What mods are done to your car. There are people that get some good # with the stock DP so if you have all the basic mods a bigger DP would be next.

Mods are: Dual exhaust 2.5" w/dynomax mufflers, Bigger turbo, not sure what it is, 237 fpr, fuel pressure gauge, bosch in-line pump, chip , K & N filter, hitting twenty lbs of boost,VDo BoOst Gauge Daily sideways driver.

I had one here on a customers car....worked fine...know are you concerned about weight????? the elbow seems like an engine block hangin off the manifold;)

$200 is a little high for a used BGC downpipe. That is the going rate for a used mild steel THDP with a dump. I know which one I'd rather have for $200.

The BGC elbow/downpipe is, shall we say, a historical curiosity?

I'm sure when the THDP came along the inventor said something like, "Why didn't I think of that?"

I doubt that. The B.G. D/P was developed the way it was to maintain a factory style joint at the elbow. They were all made with stainless pipes and listed out at $385[as per catalogue,3+ years ago].How many times have we heard people say that they a few problems fitting a THDP style pipe?It hits the heater box or the frame?I've never heard that said about the B.G. piece. As good a piece as it is,the THDP sometimes has it's shortcomings in fitment and lack of a flex joint.Ever heard guys say their flange holes don't line up on their THDP after they unbolt it?Yup.BTW,the THDP style of swingvalve housing is not new. It's just new to us.
Bottom line,if it's in good shape, offer $175 cash and enjoy.

For all practical purposes you must disconnect a THDP from the balance of the exhaust system in order to get the DP to line up with the turbine housing. Otherwise, depending upon the idiosyncracies of your particular installation, you may be inviting a wrestling match.

I have read where guys have pitched the bolts and used studs instead. Not having tried it however, I can't say if this makes life easier.

So far as the BGC elbow/DP goes, I stick by what I said, although I did neglect to mention the elbow makes a nice planter...

:)
