What are you guys using for a gasket in between the turbo and the downpipe with a internal gated gbody parts downpipe?

I Havent Seen Anyone Use A Gasket On A Downpipe In Years, Is It Not Sealing Up?

Same here. I've heard that having a gasket in there can actually affect the way the wastegate puck seals because the puck is lined up with the surface of the DP flange, having a gasket in there makes the puck reach further to seat on the turbo and may end up at an angle i.e. not sealing the hole.

Even my cheap-o 3.5" downpipe doesn't leak at the flange.

My DP came with the gasket. Believe I got it from FullThrottle. It's one of Gbodyparts pipes. Maybe check on either of their websites if you need one.

humm didn't think I read much about anyone using a DP gasket just wasn't sure. Gbody parts has one listed on there website but it says for external wg's only. I will try it out and see if it leaks first if it doesn' than were good to go.

Thanks!

We have both types of gaskets.
If you have one of our down pipes shoot me an e-mail to Bweavy@aol.com & I'll send you one out no charge. Not really needed just helps keep the the Hi -temp sealant together & looking uniform. ;)

you really shouldnt need a dp gasket. i had a guy a guy named grand national mike in spokane give me an edumacation on that.

if your dp isn't sealing right, try using a sanding block to evenly sand both surfaces, but make sure you block off the wheel so no metal particles get in there. i had a real problem with sealing the puck when i ran a gasket and it spools a million times faster (according to the butt dyno :D ). i havent run a gasket for a while and have no leaks.

So you don't need a gasket huh? How do you seal the down pipe up where it mates to the turbo? RTV? Or do you not?

This should be a sticky. If the surfaces are brand new and/or flat no gasket should be necessary. If they're not installed yet get them machined flat. If you want to run a gasket, get one of the compressable graphite donut ones (they work especially well if the turbo/downpipe have a machined beveled edge) that'll seal good. On top of that, you can run a small bead of copper RTV for added measure if you want.

P.S. I personally do not reccomend the flat stamped metal gaskets. I've found they can cause more leaks than they fix.

Gasket

What gasket? You don't need one. If you do decide to run one try the thinner copper unit.

I have never used one & if the surfaces are flat why would you need one? Maybe a thin smear of Hi Temp RTV but I have never used that either. I have put wheel bearing grease around the puck hole before. Helps make a carbon line to see exactly where the puck is sitting & if its sealing.

I see someone does sell a gasket for mounting a down pipe. I guess no many buy the gasket.
