Drag Radial

What would be the best tire for the street and strip and what size the 275/50/15 or the 275/60/15. I'am looking at the Nitto comp. Drag Radial with stock rear gear. Thanks

ive got the nitto 275 60 15s and there great when the pavement is warm.

Here is the generally accepted rule of thumb:

275/60/15's if you're in the 11's

275/50/15's if you're slower than 11's

i just put on the mccreary american racer L-60's (same as 275/60/15) they fit well with a 5/16 spacer and they hook good. and also have full threads. they run about 129 a piece and generally last longer than drag radials. seen people cut 1.6 and lower 60" times. definatly look into them before putting on the dr's

I am also considering the American Racing tire. I see a guy in a 60s Nova at the track running 7.40s @ 95 mph on the G60s. He gets 1.6x 60'.

I have a pair on my 87 GN,and they hook well on the strip and street.People look at them and snicker,until I show them my taillights.Just ask 3 Z28's,MUSTANG GT'S AND A ACURA CL TYPE S WITH A SUPERCHARGER!!

Look Quick,I have the G60 15 tires on the stock GN rim.They do not rub at all,just hook!!Tires look good from the back too.

Thanks. I will probably get the 265/60D-15 to mount on my Torque Thrust II 7" wheels. I want at least a 27" diameter tire. Do you have any 60' times with the G60?

Look Quick,best times so far is a 1.8 with these tires,still sorting out the rear end.

Get the BFG's...

BFG's are a fair better hooking tire, then the nitto's. If you are looking tread wear life, driving in rain, etc..get the nitto's.

I used to use those tires back in the early 90's. Bought 'em from dirt track racers for cheap when they put on fresh one's. They hook ok but "be verwy careful in da wain!" And I think they are bias ply, too. Correct me if I'm wrong. Back then they were made by McCreary but I'm pretty sure it's the same tire.
