Anyone know what the limit timewise/speewise is for having a passenger in a car at the track?

I need a copilot for one run to monitor my incar fuel pressure gauge and the wideband O2 meter.

Any time limit for this? Or is it simply a track rule thing? :)

TIA

If they will not let you take someone down the track you could use a video camera and run it all out!

Can your co-pilot crouch down real low in the backseat?:D :D

Having a passenger during a drag race won't happen at any of the 3 New Jersey tracks. Strictly forbidden due to state law and probably insurance reasons as well. I'm pretty sure the same rule applies during private track rentals.

I did witness some crazy stuff at the GS Nationals a few years back. Passengers in cars and no helmets! This was at Bowling Green which probably explains why.

At one of the tracks I have run,
they will let you have someone else with you at 14.00 and slower.
Somehow I doubt that means you.
(unless you have a hot-air of course) ;) :D

Its probably track by track rules, I dont ever remember seeing any rules regarding passengers anywhere.

At Capitol Raceway here in MD they told me that the NHRA allows passengers at any level so long as they have all the safety gear required of the driver (helmet, belts, fire suit, whatever the et requires). Another local track (forget which one) told me 14.00 and slower, sigh :-). Talk to the tech guy when you are getting inspected, or call the track, because this is one of those things that is definitely going to vary from track to track, and maybe even from night to night.

It's a track rental day at LVD in NY.

I will ask the organizers, I doubt they care too much.

Prolly could do a high 12 to get the data I need, maybe a low 13.

Thanks for the replies.

If I had a video camera I'm sure I could make that fly around the car like everything else I keep in it. :D

Salvage.........It is 14.00 at LVD. My brother took his T up at the last track rental and I was told that I could ride along as long as the car ran 14 flat or slower.

Maybe don't do a full pass? Give her all she's got to about 3/4 track then let up. You should have a lot of data by then..

Looks like I might have to do that. 3/4 pass should tell a lot about O2's and fuel pressure.

14 is slow even for me. ;)

Just make the pass with your passenger however fast you want to and when they issue you a warning tell them OK....since you only have to do it once anyway.;)
