after looking over my fuel setup for my lsx swap i had a question about using the reds double pumper. im gonna run a -8 from the stock 3/8" feed line coming out of sending unit all the way up for big rails and injectors with a areomotive regulator and a -6 return. my question is i dont like the size of the return on the sending unit. i plan on most likely bypassing the hobbs switch and running both pumps all the time. can i just drill a hole in teh top of the tank and run a -6 bulkhead fitting and hook my return to it? thanks guys

Don't use a bulkhead. They can vibrate loose and leak or worse. Take it to someone and have it cleaned out really good (no fumes) and weld a female pipe fitting with a tube that reaches almost to the bottom of the tank in one of the corners so its away from the pickup. U can get a an/pipe thread fitting to fit into the fitting you welded in with no adapter. As for running both pumps all the time I'll leave that to someone else to answer.

Running both pumps all the time will heat up the fuel needlessly. The stock lines aren't very restrictive. It's a waste of time and money, most of the time,to replace them. The biggest restriction in the return circuit is the regulator, not the line. Call red for his feedback. he'll tell you about his discoveries, not his opinions.

You can buy a robbmcperformance.com fuel pickup with the larger line sizes and AN fittings.

im swaying towards putting the -6 bulkhea fitting into the top of the tank with a little jb weld on the threads so i ont have to worry about anything coming loose. if i ont run a tube onw will i get bubbles in the fuel from the return running like that or will it not be enough pressure back there to worry about it. This same setup is ran on a freinds car but he is carbed with a cell and the -6 bulkhead is ran to top of cell with no tube.

Carb is more forgiving. If you just dump the fuel into the tank it will create agitation in the tank and risk starving or overheating the pump if it is ran low. You may not have any problems doing that but its not worth the risk in my opinion. It would be a little different if it was a cell with a baffle.

I have built a few sending units with 1/2" outlets and 3/8" return lines. Used -8AN outlet fitting and -6AN return fitting. Pretty hard to get it all to fit with a nice bend radius and two 5/16" lines to couple the Walbro 340's. The best way for ease of building is to buy a new tank, weld in a sump and install a big external pump if you plan on making 1000+HP. Just don't park the car facing down hill on a steep hill with 1/4 tank of fuel. The stock fuel lines WILL support over 800 HP. (providing they are not kinked) a single -6an will support over 1000hp. But if supply fabbing new, Ill use -8AN for supply. Won't hurt anything.
