Ok my car has had this problem since I got it :(

I am just trying to get it fixed! Its very very frustrating.

What it dose is when You put the window down all the way it takes 4-5 trys to get it all the way up! It will go up about Half or sometimes only a Quarter of the way and stop! Then wait a few hit it again and then stop over and over till its up all the way! PAIN IN THE BUTT!

I looked at the track and compaired it to the pass side (pass side is slow but always goes all the way up evey time) Looks to be fine, so I have tried to adjust the track and cleaned and lubed it, all I did was make it even slower and more trys to go all way up. I also found some hacked up spliced wires so I cut them all out and rewired the switch to the door wires and sodered them and heat shrinked them and its still the same :(

I also tested the motor seems to be fine dosnt get hot, dosnt have a real high load on it, on a volt meter and it has the same current draw as the pass side. So now Im lost!

Anyone know why this is like this?? Is there a fix for it?? Should I try a new motor?? If so who has the best motors, or one thats got more kick/power to it??

Any help would be great!

So the whole thing with the windows being ssllllooooowwwwww is normal?
Im a new Buick owner and was about to start addressing that issue.

Mine Drives door window is beyond SLOOOW as you put it. I could deal with slow if the damn think went all the way up in one push!
mine stops and will not MOVE! For 3-4 Min then works again 1/4 the way more then STOPS! then works then STOPS AGAIN! then wait and it works and STOPS Again 4-6 trys to put up a flippin window is not cool and very very agrivating if you go to more than one place and want to put the windows up because your woman wants to leave her crap in the car.

This is not normal folks its broken there has to be an issue I have over looked.
Anyone have something good to add here or am I on my own with the stopping window???

So I take it no one knows whats wrong and I have to just keep buying parts to fix the issue???

Man this sucks!

Have you tried bypassing the switch all together by hotwiring it, to check and see if its the switch?

I replace the switch last year made no dif. as to how it works :(
Im lost and Im a master certified Mech.! I checked the circit the wires the motor nothing seems to be wrong. Track is all greased up and working just like the pass side.

Any other tricks?? My nest thing is going to be replace the motor but if I do that I would like to get the strongest one I can :)

What is the voltage at the motor, itself? It might be a bad feed wire between door and fuse block. IT could also be just a bad motor. Some guys use a hot wire and relay for their motor and claim it makes them faster.

Voltage to the motor was 12 volts
As far as a drop in voltage it dose drop to 10 volts but not right up until it comes to a stop.

Dose anyone make a stronger motor ??
I wouldnt mind to purchase another motor and give that a try but would like something good. I dont like cheap parts.

hi
ihave been told the reason there so slow they have a little motor for less weight less wieght the faster the car goes

I heard the original motors were ...

slow and prone to break. If I remember correctly Kirban has both the original rebuilt and a new replacement version. There must be others that fit.

I am glad I have cranks.

crank windows, or, power windows? its all what you want I guess. I'm not lazy, I don't mind cranking, but I don't like leaning all the way over to crank the pass side window up and down if I'm the only one in the car. So I prefer power.
I had the same exact problem when I got my 84 gn. I tracked it down to cracked wires going to the switch. Right above the switch (inside the door of course) the wires make a almost 180 degree bend. I couldn't physically see the breaks, but if I barely touched them, it'd make contact.

Someone replaced the conector on my car with all ne wires and then crimp conected them thats the part I sodered up and thought was the issue. But it wasnt. Ill check the wires again and I think Im going to order some new motors just wish I knew of one that was a little bigger. I would really concider converting the drivers door to manual lol

power window motors like ours, has a built in overload breaker-these are the cause of over 75% of p/w motor failure.replace motor,or bypass breaker.

Finally what I would like to know is how to bypass the breaker to test just the motor :)
Where is the bypass located??
Thanks
Derek

you will have to take out the motor and the breaker is inside at the plug side.it looks like a flat piece of black wire.jump or bypass with a piece of wire soldered in.i do my motors like this, and they move up fast.

Just got my Brand new Window motor from Kirbans (Only ones that brand new even local places only could get remans)

It dosnt have this wire in the side of it or in the bottom for that matter :(

Man I hope this solves the problem!

I have heard that an older Buick has much heavier duty motors. Will look iin my stuff to see if I can find it.

a1autoelectric.com has OE replacement window motors for all year Regals. They carry Electric Life power window kits, which are the same as factory in terms of mounting and looks. I've installed a Electric Life power window kit in my '65 El Camino I'm currently building with stock GM switches, so they look like factory power windows. The motors are the fastest I've seen. I'm not sure if their OE replacement window motors will be this fast. I know a lot of GM cars in the 80s came with super slow power windows. When I installed an alarm in my GN, I was going to install window roll-up modules to roll the windows up and down by remote and they would've provide one-touch to the switches so the windows can go all the way up or down in either direction you tap the switch, but the windows were too damn slow, therefore, no window roll-up modules were installed. The GN windows were slow with the car running, but once the car is off, the windows are excruciating slow.

Gang,

Check out this:

Revved Up Power Windows

This tech article suggests using 78-79 Regal (single headlight models) window motor & regulators.

Damn! Why couldnt this have popped up before I just spent 2 hours in the garage replacing the dang motor and adj. the tracks!

Good news is the problem is solved! the window goes all the way up in one flip of the switch! and also goes all the way down and back up! SWEET! I just hope I dont have to do anything else to it!

I also retinted my windows (Another 1.5 hours lol) but man the car is comming around now just need that HR Parts and stuff sway bar! :D
