I'm right in the middle of changing my timing chain so while I have everything apart I decided to remove my driver's side header to look for any cracks. When I finally had it removed I could not find any cracks (between 3 & 5 either) . Should I remove the heat shield on the header to see if there are any cracks on that side? Is that the side where everyone finds the cracks?

The only reason I decided to remove the header is because I could hear the distinct exhaust noise coming from that header when cold. Thanks for your reply. Nicholas.

First thing to do is take them off and throw them in the trash! Then I would take an extremely bright light and shine in the ports and look for the light coming through a crack. If nothing, install with some 1400 Fel-Pro gaskets.
