Electric fan wiring

I would like to remove the “fan turning on after the ignition key is turned of function” but I would also like for the computer to control at least one of the fans if not two of them.

So basically what I wouldn’t mind accomplishing at a minimum is
One fan to come on as the car starts.
And the other for the computer to turn it on as it is needed.

But at the same time once the ignition key is off NO FAN WOULD BE ON OR TURN ON.
Any ideas please.

The fan delay relay is keeping the fans on. It's the larger of the 3 relays on the driver side inner fender. Unplug it and forget it. The fan relays will still function normally. One thing to consider: I THINK the delay relay is triggered by high temp sensor. If your fans always run for a few minutes after shutdown, you might want to research the reason for the high temp and correct.

what kind of fans do you have? Are they 2 speed fans? To get one to run at all times when the ignition is on, you will have to custom wire it.

Flex-a-lite 210 it’s a double fan single speed each fan flex-a-lite 210
It never got above 170-180
But once the relay went bad and killed the battery
And I don't want to have a repeat of that on the chevelle.
So for now I will just pull the plug on the big relay and for get about it.
And figure something out with wiring on the "always on Fan"

Personally, I'd wire one fan to the low relay, and the other fan to the high relay, essentially using the stock wiring (except maybe run a separate ground). Then add a switch for high speed in the car (this is very easily done by grounding one of the relay wires via the switch).

Switch off - fans work normal - one fan operates via chip control for low speed (~170), other fan comes on for high demand (AC or high temp).

Switch on - both fans on all the time with ignition.

Less mess and you have override control.

It’s all done
One fan will come on with the engine
The other is wired to a switch some where on the dash.
Also removed the "Running after car is turned off function" no more dead batteries. :biggrin:
