If your car runs its not the cam sensor. U need to get a scan tool
or have somebody look at it. U might want to look at your plugs and then u might need a coil pack or ignition module.
What plugs do u got? Are they gaped .035? Do u have the plug wires connected right? Look into this stuff. If it was the cam sensor your car wouldn't start.

The car will run if it is 180 deg out....It will just run poorly. It will run if it's not properly adjusted. The ignition timing won't really be affected, but the fueling will be.

Check out http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/ecmsensors/camsensor_FAQ.html

Look at step #12

For adjustment procedure:

The cam sensor is on the front of the motor. Relatively easy to get to....and no, you won't need to tear into the motor.

This may not be your problem Sleeper87, but it's a good thing to check out. Like everyone's been saying....you need to beg / borrow / steal a scantool.

Good Luck,
John

He says the car gets up and goes and backfires. I had my cam sensor off before and the car wouldn't start. So I followed the intructions off of gnttype to get it right. I know all cars are different but if the car pulls real hard and then cuts out
it sounds to be someting in the coil pack, spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition module .

Car does Not Backfire, but rather misfire.....I may be new to this but i thought there was a diff between misfire and backfireing...it doesnt go put put BANG....its more of a stutter like burrrrrr burrrrrr buu buuu buurrr buuur buuuu..... type of deal...pardon my GENIOUS description but its all i could come up with...The dealership where i brought it back to because its under warrenty...says its the cam...just an agressive cam they say *BS* i say....i told them to check the ingition system and spark...they are lik uhmm ok...so who knows...

did everyone miss this? first you said it was a fresh rebuild then you said you personally replaced the rear seal 1100 miles ago.
how long have you been driving this car like this?
ditto to scan tool.
if its misfiring its spark related ie.coil pack, plugs, wires.
im assuming you had your chip done for stock injectors!

if cam is too aggressive and fuel pump is not upgraded and hotwired you will have all kinds of problems.you also said car is under warranty car or motor? im confused! who said cam is too aggressive the people you bought car from or the guy who rebuilt motor? who installed motor the guy who rebuilt it or someone else?how did it run before rebuild?
arent lt1 valve spring 125# isnt that too much for a stock motor?
anyone?

sorry so many ?s but we ned more info.

Look at your cam sensor. Is the plug to the cam sensor facing the drivers side and the window to the cam sensor should be facing to the passenger side? Sorry about saying backfire I meant misfire.

i replaced the Rear main seal b4 i had the motor rebuilt bye the Dealership.....and actually disregard the Aggrissive cam thing...I didnt mean to say 2 aggressive...i ment to say its more aggressive than stock...aka a performance type deal nothing where ud need special stuff to have it tin ur motor other wise the dealership prob wouldnt put it in.....as for gnxis's questoin on my chip....Nothing has been installed yet....all performance parts are NOT on the car...Everything is stock...
