So I took my 87 GN to the Dyno today. Here is my setup: I have a stock turbo, a 3” TH DP, 2 3/4" Dual Magna flow exhaust with test pipe, Stock intercooler, 3” MAF pipe with K&N cold air intake, stock MAF sensor, 3” up pipe, Red Armstrong XP plus fuel pump with hotwire kit, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 42.5 lb injectors, SMC non progressive Alky kit, TurboTweak Alky chip v5.6, BstC Boost Controller, and a Scanmaster 2.1. I also have an O2 “port” near the test pipe for the dyno to take its reading. As background, I bought this car 11 months ago and have been struggling a fair bit with knock and most of my addons have been to try and get more fuel to the engine. I started the day with the Alky on and the chip set to add 7% at both WOT and 1st gear and timing was pulled -2.8 degrees in both ½ and ¾ gears. Max boost was 20 psi. Fuel pressure was 42 psi at idle with vac. Hose off. From the very first run my readings were showing that the AF ratio was too lean – approx. 15 at start up. In steps, I ended up adjusting the chip to max fuel at WOT and 1st gear and this brought my starting AF ratio to roughly 12. The car ran fine at low boost and RPM with no bogging down. The problem I could never solve was the AF ration would always go very lean (16-17) as the car’s boost and RPM rose at WOT in 3rd/4th gear. I had to back off on every dyno run due to leaning out. The fuel pressure at WOT and 15-17 lbs of boost was approximately 62 psi. Is there any reason you all know of that would cause my car to lean out so much as i build speed? There seems to be plenty of fuel pressure at the rail and I'm wondering if my injectors are too small? Could the MAF sensor be bad? On my last run I even jacked the fuel pressure way up at idle and still got the same result... Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help.
