Has anyone used a Tranny from Dynotech performance? I see advertised that Eric Schertz is now with them and that he is doing the tranny's. They advertise a street & strip tranny for $1,200 installed. Has anyone ever had one done there? if so, how much and how much do you like it? Thanks for any info.

Scott

I've got his street strip and the other car has his Hi-Pro $1400 one.

I like the street strip better, less harsh but still good.

That car now has a 3K stall single disk Vigilante and the stock turbo on it. Nice.

Will be getting the PTE51 soon this spring. :)

The Hi-Pro has the 3.2K stall Protorque in salvageV6, kinda sucks on the street especially in the snow. ;)

Really hits second and third good. :D

I recommend him, mine were obtained through Keith Mease not direct from Eric but I don't think that matters much. The install is straightforward and I had an intercooler installed and built by Keith at the same time.

I have a spare tranny from my car and I am planning on having Eric build it someday. :)

Thanks a lot for the info. My spare motor will be finished and installed sometime in late june/early july. I want to have my tranny rebuilt also. The current engine and tranny have 161,000 miles on them. I am currently in college and $$ gets tight at times but i want to make it right. I wanted a tranny that will shift hard 1-2, 2-3 etc. but have good street manners. I was thinking of a 2800 stall converter though but i will contact them and tell tjhem what i am expecting and what the car will be used for (mostly street but some track visits) and see what they tell me!!! Thanks a lot once again for the info. and if anyone else has information on his tranny's please reply!!

The 2-3 on the street strip is a lot less hard hitting than that of the HI-PRO unit.

More like the stocker actually. Just want that to be clear.

You could probably get a protorque 2800 stall easily.

Not sure if Vigilante makes a 2800 stall?

Eric did my tranny. hi-pro with 3200 protorque. Works quite nicely on the street with my pt 51.I don't plan on having to redo the tranny any time soon.:D

Hey b231v6 does yours clunk the drivetrain a bit on downshifts coming to a stop?

Mine seems a bit weird on coastdown almost like clutches grabbing or the TCC is unlocking on the 3-2 and 2-1 downshifts.

I plan on changing the filter and fluid at 1K miles and prolly replacing the TCC solenoid since it has 114K on it.

Just wondering, hey I have the same converter and turbo too!

Great minds think alike. :D

No problems here. I had the d5 originally, and it was'nt bad,but I like the protorque much better!

Mine does!!!

Salvage: I haven't noticed on the 3-2, but on the 2-1 I definately know when it's going to first. Makes a sort of metallic clunk sound. I just figured that's a trade off of getting a bullet-proof trans.

It's starting okay finishing driving me CRAZY!

Feels like the rear end is ready to explode.

Good thing the U-Joints and driveshaft are going to be replaced with a 800HP capable aluminum driveshaft and spicers.

Hope the rear end isn't dying too from all the banging.

Oh well at least it ain't the converter falling off or destroyed.

Thanks for posting, time to form a support group. ;)

I bet yours catches second real good at about 1/4 throttle while going around corners, car jumps a couple of feet while accelerating, usually chirps the snows too. :D

Can't wait to get the Nittos on it and get some traction. :)

yup!

Yes it does, It usually takes a good step to the side when I'm going around a corner and it hits second. It can be downright scary in the rain if you aren't expecting it.

I have been in several cars with Eric's Hi Pro trans and to me the shifts are very nice and firm. The down shift clunk is common to the 2004r. A lot of the Monte SS and 442's did that. To me its not a bad thing. The 700r4 in my truck also does it. Its one of the trade offs you make when having a performance car or I should say, when having a performance trans that is going to live.
Its nothing to worry about. If you have a clunk in the rear, then most likely the back lash has increased from wear or the u joints or worn. Not uncommon with cars over 100k miles. But the clunk on down shift wont do any damage what so ever.

from what i read eric owns dynotech now i have one his all out race units $3k with bat brake and full roller unit and all the billet and hardened parts runs god and hits hard
