Looking at converting but closest station is 35 miles from me so storage may be necessary. What are the moisture / condensation and shelf life concerns and / or preventative measures to go with e85?

Seems like a viable improvement with fewer moving parts especially when we really don't know how good the 93 is at most gas stations?

I would think it would be fine if you store it in sealed 5 gallon jugs. I store it in my gas tank for months at a time. I would not keep it around for more than 6 months though. Some people use Stabil but I have not tried that. Everyone has an opinion on this topic. Do some searching in this forum and there is information there.

Thank you sir!! I felt I would make a run to the station every 45 days to replenish either in the car or in quality sealed containers for storage!! Since I am in Florida humidity is a big problem so I am looking for any ideas? Dry ice? Air conditioned room? Open the containers weekly to a fan dried atmosphere to disperse any moisture?
No idea is successful until tried, tested & proven!!!

I don't think water absorption is quite as huge of a problem as people make it out to be with E85. Some people probably pulling from experience with straight methanol. It is real humid here in Houston. I try to keep the tank in the car as full as possible when it is sitting in my non-climate controlled garage. Get the 5 gallon race jugs and fill them up and keep the lids on them. The ones I have are not vented in any way so there is no way for water to get in. I try to use it all up within 2 months of getting it from the pump. As long as you don't let the car sit for 6 months with half a tank of E85 in it with the gas cap off you should be ok.

Thank you again, I am on the fence with this, any other solid reasons to do this??

I switched to E85 so I could run a ton of boost without paying for race gas or spraying methanol. If you are not going to crank up the boost I don't think there is any advantage to running E85.

I plan on several upgrades including TA-49 and bigger injectors and my sig will show others.
There are so many opinions & ideas out there I am trying not to do stuff twice if possible?
Street w/ some track to see what works while avoiding most grief others have endured.....

I dont want to discourage you, but you will loose a LOT of MPG's. I speak from experience and many others on this board. Your results may be better, but 35 miles to a station is kinda far, specially if its through town.
If you decide to do it, you will have a lot of fun with 2.89 race fuel while it lasts.lol

BTW, I have a station that is 10 miles away and I still store E85 in a 5 gal. jug from summit. Tighten cap and leave it.
Also, invest in a E85 tester. I found my E85 to be E81.

Great alternative to race gas, HAVE to be able to supply more to the engine, you WILL lose MPG, did I say great alternative to race gas??? I have a 55 gallon drum that was used for race gas that I have on stand by to fill if needed. I would check on getting one of those. I don't drive my car like a daily driver but I usually have to fill up when I go out for a day of driving.

I can plan to store large gallons, any tips as to keeping it good & moisture free? May store for other GN friends??

Use this. Store in a vented container.

Thanks, but wouldn't a vented container invite moisture / condensation ?? I am in Florida where humidity is always high,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes.
Look at a summit catalog and find their larger containers.
I used to store all kinds of fuels for years.

Here is where I read about vented container.

Can't attach file since I'm on my phone, but here is a screenshot.

My 55 gallon drum is a non-vented Rocket race gas container. I would talk to someone at your local track about picking one up.

Just did some more research. Non vented is what you want. Thanks for the clarification guys. ;)
