My wife brought her shitty little SUV in for service. The shop got busy and she couldn't wait. They gave her an E55 AMG to drive until tomorrow. I just took this thing for a blast and WOW!!!! Supercharged V8, I think it's an 03 but man does thing ever pull, it just doesn't stop.

Where do you live? I want to drive it too ;)

Ottawa Ontario Canada. Once traffic dies down after supper I'm going out hunting. This thing just flat out moves, it's crazy for such a heavy car. It's a 2006. The guy is selling it and only wants 16K with 66,000 miles on it.

I've worked on one per customer a few times it ain't no joke...

Reminds me of the time I drove my friends SLR on the freeway. A different friend had an 06 e55 sedan with bolt ons and a tune pushing 610hp! Great cars Mercedes is truly a beast with the AMG engines.

I've seen a E55 AMG at the track here. He would run 11.80's on street tires with about a 2000ft DA. You couldn't even hear the motor. I have no idea what was done to it, but it had to be mo more than a tune, maybe a pulley, and intake at most. They run low 12's corrected when stock.

Yeah the guy I know had headers and pulleys. It was $10k on parts and the tune if I remember correctly.

Just got back from cruising around. My 10 year old and I had fun with this car, he's hooked on this thing. Getting on the highway is a blast. This is one of the nicest cars I have driven.

So now I'm all spun up on these things. Last night I ran into a couple issues with my GN that set me off and really make me want to get rid of it. I had a dream that I was deciding on whether to get a 335i or E55 AMG. Then I woke up remembering there was a reason I named the Porsche I had "Hitler's Revenge". I'm still pissed off about the GN and honestly I think it has been more trouble than the Porsche was. The GN is a hell of a lot more fun though.

Friend use to have a AMG CL55 that was supercharged. That thing was fast. He let me drive it on the freeway and I shut it down around 140 and he asked "Whats wrong, why you shut it down early" I swear I saw the gas gauge move down while getting in it
here is a pic I had on my phone of it

I test drove one years ago...bad ass but if you have to repair its not going to be cheap. If I remember the compressor goes out and the air ride. MB forum members will tell you don't bother buying one without a warranty. I was so disappointed because I loved the car.

Well she brought it back this morning on her way to work, now there is an emptiness in my lane-way and heart. I don't want to be impulsive and buy the car off of this shop that lent it to the wife, after all we get lots of snow here, that's why we have the SUV for her. I must admit though, I hammered on this thing pretty good, it did not miss a beat and cruised around very nicely too. I hear you about the GN, mine pisses me off at times too.

Don't know what models they were but a couple of weeks ago at the track I saw a couple of full sized Mercedes run mid 12s. Fast for big car that I'm sure is heavy.

SL55 same drivetrain as the E55, SL has a better gear ratio (2.86 vs 2.65) couple of upgrades and the SL weighs 4650 with driver.

Lots of fun but be prepared to have $1000/month at hand for repairs if you don't know how to fix them yourself. Fixing them is cumbersome and expensive as hell. Guys complain about having to spend $5k a year to keep their 10 sec turbo regal running smoothly. Imagjne having to spend twice that on your 12 sec Mercedes.

Not as bad as some think. Modifying is the most expensive aspect of owning the car, never ends. These cars just dont break as they were over engineered.

These have gotten my attention as well. Seems like their owners love them. Apparently, they have the same issues... (computer crap, etc.) Engines and transmissions seem to be bullet proof. Mods run about $4k-5k and net 600hp/tq+... I might be inclined to check one of these out. They look like a lot of fun!!

I have a BMW M5. These German cars are really powerful. It came with a 507 Hp v10. I did a few light mods and have it up to 550. Amazing drive.
