how well would E85 fuel work in a hot air T-type? the stuff is over 100 octane, costs 15-20% less than regular gas, and is 85% ethanol. i iknow the engine will use more fuel due to less available energy, but since it costs less and has more detonation resistance and heat absorbing properties, it might be just the ticket for our cars.

no one has an opinion? or even a comment?
the stuff is over 100 octane, costs 15-20% less than 87 octane gas, and is available at a growing number of gas stations- especially here in the midwest.
i kinda figured someone here has tried it.. guess i will be the pioneer next weekend..

I dont have any real professional advice other than on the factory GM E85 cars(91-93 Lumina) the entire fuel support system is stainless steel to cope with the corrosive properties of alcohol and the injectors flow more than the standard gas injectors and of course it uses a special ECM and support system that uses sensors that measures the amount of alcohol to adjust the engine. You might try to do some research on the newer GM vehicles that are flex-fuel capable and see how they are doing it now. Other than the tax related benefits and the almost equal cost of gas is there any other benefits to running E85?

My friend's 3.0 Ranger is made to run on that stuff. I remember the injectors are bigger than my GN. 60 something lb if I remember right. It looks like you need a lot more fuel for the same amount of power. Might not be the best thing for a daily driver, even with the savings at the pump. But it would be nice to have someone find out for sure by trying it.
