I'm looking at picking up a Caddy 4.1 v6 tomorrow morning... Not sure of the block number being that it's still inside the car. I've read all the resources out there regarding the 291's & 484's that came in the various early Buicks, but what about the Caddy?
Any good? Sturdy enough if prepped correctly for a turbo build? If anyone has any input whether good or bad about these specific blocks please feel free to post here... I'd really appreciate the share of knowledge!

Thanks,
Johnny

I had started on a 553 build a few years back, but gave it up to a friend that wanted it for his 82 grand prix. I believe mine was out of an 84 caddy. Could not find any cracks around the bolt holes and the deck thickness was good when I checked it. As the decking in the none 291/484's, were under discussion due to some cracking/failures experienced by others. It was ready for the girdle and .020 over pistons/crank assembly. The guy didn't need the girdle because he was going n.a. w/it. He couldn't afford a new block for his car, so I sold it to him cheap. That was as close as I got to experimenting w/it. Also, consider the 83/84 years above the older models, as I believe there were some oiling improvements made. Don't remember exactly.
