Here's the facts:

Two or three weeks ago, we were high-bidders on 5 separate auctions from 1 seller that ended within an hour or so of each other.

By immediate e-mail we arrange with seller to pay for all 5 in 1 MO, and for all 5 items to be shipped together upon receipt of payment. And all that went well quickly, just as stated, no probs.

So, today we were high-bidders on 2 additional auctions from him.
At close of auction, we requested a total with postage.

The seller sends an e-mail reply essentially saying that we had not left feedback for the prior 5 auctions (and neither had he), and we needed to take care of that now... THEN a total with postage for the current auction would be provided!!

Hmmm...anyone had similar experiences? :)

ADDENDUM: FIRST E-MAIL FROM SELLER***************

"Before I send you your total for this auction, please go into your feedback forum and leave me feedback on the 5 previous items you purchased from me that are still open.

I will leave you feedback on all 5 as well and then we can address your latest purchase here."

No have not heard that one before..

I as a seller on EBAY with over 720 feedbacks always wait for the buyer to leave feedback after getting product.

I have gotten requests from some BUYERS to leave feedback as soon as the payment arrives. " NOT"

I will send an email to let them know that the payment arrived & email them when I ship item out..:

I always wait til the buyer leaves feedback in case they get pissed about something. If they dont leave feedback, i dont really care. I've got the $ by then...already got enough good feedback, which wont make me richer. Plus I dont have the time to bug people about leaving me feedback.

Well I have my fair share of good feedbacks on ebay but to me it is the sellers responsibilty to leave feedback first as they are the ones to get the first part of the deal..if for some strange reason they get pissed or something after..thats why they have replies on them..tells both sides of the story...when me(seller) receives money from you (buyer) as far as im concerned my end of buisness is pretty well done so I leave feedback on how payment went then hope they leave for me..my opinion & my way..sorry if anyone doesnt see it that way...you guys sound like the guys that wont stage first in a drag race..

National U got it WRONG!

Buyers should leave feedback 1st.. That way the seller knows it arrived & they like the product.

I once left a feedback 1st as a seller & the buyer came back with NEG complaining about time in mail. That was not my fault & I did not deserve a NEG for that.

EXAMPLE: What resturaunt touts itself a great food?
Unless they get customer feedback or recomendations to others.

Basic protocol would suggest that the seller leave feedback when he gets payment (which I do when I'm the seller), and the buyer leave feedback when he gets the item. The seller should not wait until the buyer leaves feedback and base his feedback on what the buyer left. As far as the seller is concerned, the transaction is over for him when he gets paid and ships the item.

Your upside down.. We both LOOSE 50/50 split is the way this will end up..

What Ebay should do is allow both parties to review & accept feedback.. This will allow both parties to work things out if things go wrong.. If No agreement can be made then after 1 month you can go ahead & leave feedback without both parties reviewing.

Brian & Dave are right..... the seller should post feedback when payment is received...then deliver what you promise...the seller waiting until the buyer posts is typical Ebay BS.

Hmmm..Yep thats the way us southerners do it..we go ahead & leave good feedback cause we know the goods were delievering is 100% correct & will be there on time...hahaha
Whats gonna happen if I buy something from you off ebay now..deadlock?? No problem..thats your opinion but think about it hard & maybe one day youll see what I mean..as lyonsd said..you should not leave feedback based on other peoples feedback..post the truth & if they have a problem with a negative you can at least post a replie explaining..if in your case you waited he can still leave a neg post..then what are you gonna do..give him a neg.? That wont solve anything..he may be like you(northern) sorry had to do it....& be stubborn about you posting bad on him so he wont reply first....oh well have fun on ebay & good luck..just hope no one ever really gets stuck with a real bad person..so far lucky here but scared a few times..

OUR REPLY TO SELLER EXTORTION ATTEMPT FOR FEEDBACK

"We really do not get get all caught up on "FEEDBACK" on a daily basis, with attentions being focused on far greater priorities & responsibilities.

We attend to it usually on a monthly basis, all at once.
__________________________________________________

We trust you have no basis for complaint about meeting our responsibilities to you as a buyer? If you do, please bring it to my attention now. (??)

You were paid by MO extremely quickly for 5 recent auctions and you will be again, so please send total with postage so we can conclude our last 2 transactions which ended a few hours earlier.

If your personal policy is to withold feedback from others until you have received it from them, then that's up to you. We would never think of "requiring" it from anyone. It's either given freely, or it's invalid and bogus.

Many people's lives do not revolve around eBay, and it's understood not everyone has the same amount of time to devote to it, and so life goes on. If we do not receive feedback, we've always figured they were too busy, or simply choose not to participate in that part of eBay.

Getting people paid fast in a genuinely friendly manner is Priority #1 for us."

I generally wait until the buyer contacts me and lets me know hat he received the item and is pleased or not. I have had a few situations where the buyer claimed they didn't get the item (tracking # said otherwise) and wanted me to send another item free. Another was a book that was well packaged and mint. He claimed mine was not mint. He wanted the money back, and I said I would refund upon return of the book. This guy sent it by horseback or something, as it was the slowest and when I got it he had folded some of the pages in the book. He posted negative.

Basically, I wait because I am generally dealing with strangers that I know very little about and some people are just wierd. Too many of them like to try to use feedback as a way to blacmail.

I say forget all that and evryone leaves feedback when all are happy at the end of the auction after money and item are received.

If it was a book the he probably sent in 4th class media mail, which is why it was slow.

I agree - seller's feedback is based solely on a)was money received in a timely fashion.

A seller who holds a buyer hostage by not giving feedback rightaway is simply looking to perhaps later provide feedback on 'how happy the buyer was'! BS.

I agree with that.Once payment and mailing address is recieved in a timely matter then the buyer deserves his feedback. Then it's up to the seller to deliver the product (as described) and in a timely matter to Earn positive feedback. The buyers feedback shouldn't reflect on whether the seller holds his end of the bargain or not.I bought something from Beweavy on ebay over a year ago,and paid immediately with paypal and never recieved any feedback from Beweavy.Being the nice guy I am I left him positive feedback for an item that wasn't as nice as described thinking he would leave me feedback. Never got any feedback.

I have to agree with the Southerners! I to think that the seller ought to leave feedback when the payments is received! I have purchased numerous items off ebay and every time-and I mean every time- the seller has withheld feedback until I left positive feedback. It seems tobe commom practice to hold feedback hostage from the sellers viewpoint which I think is wrong. They hold their feedback waiting to see what kind of feedback the buyer leaves. In all but 1 instance I paid instantly with Paypal and still no feedback until after I left positive feedback. Some peopleI had to email and advise them that I left positive feedback and would appreciate the same. Just my 0.2 worth!

Seller should post feedback upon arrival of payment. Some people are feedback nazis and leave negative feedback very quickly, but I don't believe in holding feedback hostage unless there's a very good reason for it.

When I bought my LS1 MAF from Ebay, the seller emailed me on the 7th day and wanted to know where his payment was. I told him I had honestly forgot and would get it in the mail to him the next day. He replied that he wanted me to ship it Priority. To me, that's stupid...but since it was my fault for forgetting and I didnt want to mar my perfect feedback, I did it. He ended up never leaving feedback, so neither did I. I didn't want to leave him positive feedback for the item (even though the emails were rude) and have him leave me neg for BS.

Ahhh, they should have a show..."The Days of Our Ebay"

Seller should leave feedback first. Like it is stated above, the buyers feedback should be base solely on the payment.

If he is holding you hostage, you can now tell him you will report him to ebay , and really leave him some feedback for refusing to sell. Feedback, while a common courtesy, is optional. If you have to, direct him to this thread and tell him HE should leave feedback FIRST.

I understand what everyone is saying about the seller leaving feedback after payment and I generally agree, however after being burned a few times I wait to be sure. It is only because of the 1% out there.
Also, as some have been saying, so it is ok to NOT post feedback at all but not ok to hold off until all is resolved?????:confused:That makes no sense in an argument for leaving feedback after payments is made.

THE SELLER SPEAKS AGAIN IN REPLY TO MY E-MAIL

FIRST E-MAIL FROM SELLER***************

"Before I send you your total for this auction, please go into your feedback forum and leave me feedback on the 5 previous items you purchased from me that are still open.

I will leave you feedback on all 5 as well and then we can address your latest purchase here."

"We pride ourselves in speedy delivery and You, the customer.

I have seen way too many times where one person will buy many items like you have, get disgruntled about one of them, and leave Negative feedback for all of the items in spite.

Feedback is how buyers judge us, and potential buyer view us.

We are not hung up on it, but it is our Customer Service Index, and we pride ourselves in it......enough said."

EXTORTION is Customer Service?
