ECM Conversion - SES and ADL questions

Finally got around to converting to an 87 ECM and installed the Caspers IAT sensor and wiring along with the Ultra Chip. The car is stock, idles a lot better and starts without any issues.

A few other issues;
1. The SES light flickers with the key on and does not shut off after the car is started (stays flickering).
2. The car starts in the anti theft setting (“zero”) on the selector.
3. The OTC400E does not read the computer. Tried disconnecting the ADL and reconnecting, and checked the chip to make sure it was seated about 5 times.

I had no SES and ADL connector issues before the swap.
What would the 4th digit be for an 87 to be entered in the monitor?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Actually, I talked to John S. at Caspers and I am sure I got the correct chip as he knew it was a conversion.

I think the car runs in limp mode. Removed the ultra chip and the car starts and runs the same (flickering SES) so this must be the case??

What is the number on the computer supposed to be?

it should be a 7148

you need your hotair calpack

an 87 chip

an 87 maf or translator with lt1/ls1 maf

a mat sensor wired in

Agree.

The Casper chip is a, CTW87-30.
I assume this is a Thumb Wheel Chip 87 - 30 lbs injectors.
The installed cal pack is 16036504.

I have an 87 MAF but this should not effect the SES light is my understanding. At least, not cause a flickering light.

The store sold me a 7748 computer. (AHAAAA!!)
Well, the 7148 should be in tomorrow. Hopefully this will resolve the issues.

4th digit

Hi Jerryl!
The 4th digit of an '87 would be a G, designating body style. Try different combinations, see if that works.

Resolved ........

Installed the correct computer.
SES light works as does the anti theft setting.

The 87 MAF has also been installed (seems a bit high - 9 @ 1000 rpm, IAC 80) I aready went through the re-setting procedure.
Will work on IAC next.
