Anyone had trouble with their 87 ECM conversions ?

I did mine and put in a Thrasher chip with blue tops. Didn't change over the 85 stock MAF.

Idles well...starts well...but wont build boost against the brake and it runs like crap under load.

Is it the MAF?
 
Mine wouldn't work with the 84 MAF. I finally went
with a translator and a Impala SS MAF. This works,
it runs good!
 
I havent had any problems with my 87 ECM conversion. Are you sure your using a thrasher for blue tops??? I scan tool can tell you if your 85 Maf is crapped out.

Are you using a 84 MAF with your ecm? I just got a 86 ecm for my ride, but haven't tried it out yet, I have a red armstrong chip for it, and was gonna jump the MAT connector with a 2200 ohm resistor to make it "think" its getting 76* air in.
 
Yes I still use an 84/85 MAF with my 86/87 ecm (5 years so far) I use a Thrasher chip with my green stripe injectors (30lb injectors). You can use a 2200 ohm resistor to make it "think" its getting around 70 to 80 degrees F (most resistors have a 5% error so the temp will change a little...not a big deal). I have used a 1/4 watt resistor before and it worked.

When u say yours wouldn't work with the 84/85 MAF...what do you mean ?

Would it start like mine...run ok in idle...then not drive well ?

Or did it not start at all....
