It's so bad, the big "T" paid me to quit yesterday. It's best if I don't work with the auto industry for a little while.. My side IT work is doing much better than last year.

my store had absolutely died out lately. getting slower, and slower over the past 2yrs.

Took a 10k pay cut last year... and took another 10k cut this year. better than loosing my job tho.

But, owners are down to a month to month lease.. and if the store keeps as slow as it is... I won't have a job this time next year.

At least I think they'll keep it open throughout the year.. but I'm not certain how much longer they can keep loosing money.

With the pay cuts.. I'm not going to be able to make my CC payments.. so there goes my good credit, but what can you do.. either feed the fam, and pay the mortgage.. or pay the banks that are already getting Gov. money.:frown:

We are holding our own but things are no where near where they were a year ago. Business is way off in our industry in general over 1/3 of the dealers who bought items from us have gone under in the last year. The aftermarket business is tough and getting tougher. We made enough changes (some very tough ones) that we will be OK but I see lots more vendors folding up in the next 12 months.

Day job - Director of Maintenance in a skilled nursing home. We have 120 beds here and have been down over 20 beds for about a year now. Of course having a CEO making the news 18 months ago for using medicaid/medicare funds for personal use instead of paying company bills didn't help us publicity-wise.

He ended up losing his business and we have recently been taken over by one of the biggest chains in the US. Layoffs are coming but hopefully will not be affecting my department, just me and an assistant so pretty much bare bones already. Of course being here for almost 20 years I am well compensated so that might come under scrutiny.  Experience doesn't count these days just the bottom line.

Buick business - TR Custom Parts is actually holding it's own so far this year, had my biggest year in sales in 2008 and on pace in 2009 so far to equal that BUT know things can change if enough folks out there keep losing jobs. :(

Out of work...

Boating business was cripled after high gas prices and financial meltdown. It didnt survive long after that.
