The dates are July 24-27th. The event is four days long, two days of indoor car show and two days of drags. the car show is held at the Edith Kanakaole Tennis Stadium [same place they hold the Merry Monarch] on thursday and Friday from 5:30 to 10pm, then it shifts to the drag strips for two days of racing.

It would be pretty cool if a bunch of us had our cars shipped to one of the neighbor islands for a weekend of racing! I bet there aren't that many Turbo Buicks there....

I'm from Hilo.

I go there a couple times a year and I've only seen a GN once!

Update

Well since we had a rain this weekend Hilo was nice and sunny but humid.

A friend of mines was there giving me info on the car show and races....

There were 2000 + spectators and 150 cars. They even had to turn away some of the last minute racers. Beautiful track. But racing only durrings the daytime. Track is well preped, when you step onto the track with slippers it will easily get stuck on the track.

And congrats to Alan Nakz with an amazing ET of a 8.63@165MPH! And with the front wheels off the ground. And he did a best at HRP's with something like a 9.80@151MPH.
