If he's a leaper there's a chance he can get over the radio fence before it shocks him. Then he can't get back in.

I "resemble"..

that comment!!:D
I don't "leep" fences, unless her husband is chasing me!
As for the elec fence... Once the mutt finds the "hit" can be minimized by running WFO, thru the signal field... it's over.

I knew I should have put a "Chuck Leeper" clause in there:p

It's the training on electronic fences that make them effective.

+2 on the training very important wont work at all without extensive training
i have 3 dogs and affects them differently one will just sit there and let it shock him itches his neck, one wont go 10 feet from the house anymore, and the other doesn't even realize that hes being shocked i found that after you train them like the instructions say you don't even need the fence. wish i would have asked some questions after installing that damn wire around 2 acres:eek:

no fence, the dog is trying to tell you something ftw

Just FYI she is a rescue dog and was beaten before we got her. We had a local Vet over and he said she must Love her new home and when we leave for the day she is just trying "to find us".... trust me she is very happy here.

Shorter leash

I am going to do away with the leash for awhile and just spend lots of time with her outside when I am home.

Electric Pet Fence,, need advice:
Sure, Ty, Don't pee on it, and be careful jumping over it. I am sure that the dog will figure all of that out by himself / herself.
J/K, Ty.

What the hell is a perimeter... or did you mean peter-meter:biggrin:

The bigger the dog, the harder it seems to be to stop it. Our weimaraner would keep testing it until he found a spot near a corner or something that he could get through if he ran fast enough. It became a big PITA, you have no fence if the power goes out, and I had to trace a broken wire where a skid loader drove through the alley and cut it. It worked most of the time but I wouldn't do it again. Then again, I'm pretty sure we're not going to have any more dogs.

Sold the system to my cousin and his large dog ran right through it everytime.

Here's my climber/leaper and the only way I've been able to keep her in. If you have chain link you can use some rebar and bend it at a 45 degree angle and use a standard electric fence charger and run it around the top to stop the behavior. Red only gets out when it thunders now and she really has to be scared to do it now. Yes that's siding and I live out in the country so I'm a little redneck.
