Have had a problem with the battery getting fried after over a week of it connected. I did find a dead short in 1 lead coming off the starter at the battery post. Seems I cleared that short up during some other fixes as it no longer reads a dead short. However, it does now read a constant 48-52 ohms across the positive and negative connections (no battery in car atm). What is a typical reading on a healthy car that has no worries about the battery connected for weeeks or months and has anyone ever taken a reading on that?

Couldn't give you an exact figure, but 50 Ohms sounds low...

I=E/R
I=12V/50Ohms
I=.24 Amps

That's a pretty big draw I'd say, with all the relays closed and what not.
