I know you can tell them no in Cali.. I already have twice and the installers aren't Edison employees and pretty helpful, in fact giving me negative info about the meters I hadn't even considered.

ive had mine for about 2 years, i work for the utility company down here its actually kind of helpful i can see my current kwh usg when it spikes i just go online and it shows me the previous day consumption and what my expected bill will be it'll remind you to turn some lights off before the crazy high bill at the end of the month comes

The health concerns alone would get my refusal. Let alone the privacy issues. Once "smart" enabled devices are in full use they'll be turning off your appliances. The longer video is kind of hard to get through but very informative espcially about the radiation concerns.

They've had quite a bit of bad press but I'm sure they will continue to just push them out. Don't really have many options...
