Hey guys,

As the post header reads, i'm kinda an idiot basically. Definately forgot to measure out where exactly the emblems were w/ a tape measure or ruler. Any idea where i can find the stock locations for the emblems on an '87 Grand National, pinpointed to the exact location? (obviously i remember where they generally went, and the 3.8 hood emblems are easy anyways) Just looking to do it right, because after spending $230 bux on friggen brand new emblems  , i might as well put them in the right place.

Thanks all,

Joe

The http://gnttype.org web site has a photo guide for emblem placement
in the Interior/Body/Gauges section.

I also have this saved from list email.

FRONT FENDERS: On the passenger side measure from the door jamb edge, the
"T" starts 11/2 inches in from the front of the car. For placement coming
down from the top of the fender, using the body line that sits below the
antenna measure down about 5 1/4 inches and that is where the top of the
"T" in T-Type would start.
REAR 1/4 PANELS: The stick-on plastic "REGAL" emblem is lined up perfectly
with the bar that separates the two lights lenses on the side of the car.
The space between the end of the taillight and the Regal emblem is exactly
2 inches.
TRUNK LID: On the passenger side of the trunk lid there is a stick-on
"BUICK" emblem. It sits about 11/2 inches from the top edge of the trunk
lid molding. The letter "K" in "BUICK" ends up exactly 3 3/4 inches from
the outer edge of the trunk lid. On the drivers side of the trunk lid there
is a stick-on "3.8 SFI TURBO" emblem. It sits the same height as the BUICK
emblem 11/2 inches from the top of the trunk lid molding. It only comes in
about 1/2 inch from the left edge of the trunk lid, unlike the the BUICK
emblem which has a 3 1/2 inch space between the end of the emblem and the
trunk lid. The factory did not space these emblems evenly from the edge of
the trunk lid either year. The "3.8 SFI TURBO" trunk emblem is identical to
the hood emblems except the edge of the trunk emblem was chrome and the
edge of the hood emblems were black.

This info was taken from 'Kirban's Guide to 1986 and 1987 Buick Turbo
Regals'. I hope it helps.

If you lay a ruler across the top of the emblem, I've got exactly 8 inches
from the rear of the "O" on Turbo (driver's side of course) to the rear edge
of the hood.

I went out and measured a stock car...(unless someone has repainted it with
the same checked paint, lol) and the drivers side, from the rear hood lip
was 7 7/8 inches to the back of the "O". The passenger side was 8 1/8
inches to the "3". So if ya split the difference, around 8" should be OK.

bye, Ed
