i have just aquired a set of gn1 aluminum heads, and when sat on the block they move arounfd the dowel, should they be snug aroung the dowelor should they be allowed to "float" around on them?, if they should be snug i willl replace them with ones from a small block chevy and drill the holes larger
so bottom line is should the y be snug on the dowels?
2 local engine builders gave me 2 different answers
please chime in
thanks OJP

They should positively locate the heads on the block, BUT, the heads bolts will line up the head too. You'll prolly be ok, make sure the gaskets line up correctly when on the dowels.
Mine didn't move when put in place.
Also, make sure the dowels go far enough into the head so the head seats properly.
