I'm looking for a good engine builder. I've contacted Jack Merkel and Weber engines. Has anyone used thes companys. I live near Syracuse NY and am looking for someone that won't cost me an arrm and leg for shipping but is good. I'm trying to stay in th 6to 9 thousand range.
I went through this with my tranny going to a big name only to find out to late the company had been sold and retained the name but not the highly trained employees needless to say the tranny did'nt work and I was out $3200. I don;t want to repeat this mastake.

Blowen Head Gasket real BAD

I've heard alot of good things about Nick but if you dont want to deal with shipping call Jack Cotton 413-789-0531 he's in MA and will set you up right.

Bob at RPE in CT. 860-953-1342. Hes done a few of mine and many others in the area and they were done right.

Tranny

Well the tranny I have now is a California Performance with a 9/11 and I put it thru its paces last summer and it works great. This was the builder I was looking for.

Bobby at RPE. Absolutely. You are not that far away (he's in Hartford, CT)

engine

Webers built my 109 about 4 years ago, very satisfied / ouality work.
I liked that Dave Weber was easy to talk with,he detailed what he would do how he would do it and what it would cost. :)

Call Mike Laciura at Wildcat Performance Engines in Adel, Georgia. I had originally talked to him about shipping my engine down, don't remember the exact cost but it wasn't to bad. I ended up bringing the whole car to him instead. I felt better doing a turn-key project becouse of my inexperience with tuning etc.

Nothing but good things to say about them! 12 month, 12000 mile warranty and a good price to match. Engine looks great! Fred's Turbo is going through the whole car making her right & getting her ready for the engine. They're also good people that do excellent work!

Call them before you make any decisions.

Wildcat 229-896-1566.
Fred's Turbo 229-794-2337

Get a hold of Russ Merritt on this board. He's got a couple ready to go.

Fasy Company Performance is located in central NJ and can do motors cheap, 2 motors in the 10's and one going mid 11's on straight pump gas and a SMALL combo, a couple others built but no track times....

I want to thank all and I'm not going to say where I'm going as I'm sure all are great. Am still looking for suggestions but will make up my mind shortly as I've finall gotten the motor out and tore down. I've always wondered if the car really had 30k on it when I bought it 9 years ago and I'm sure it does now milage on car now 48k and motor shows .01 would clean up the bores and the crank is fine. Am still going to get it beefed up as we all know fast is never fast enough. This is a great post for all who need motor work :D A

sounds like a tight and good motor.....have the bores just honed for the new rings and have a girdle installed and all the bearings and rings clearanced and your half way to having the motor done without breaking the wallet
