twodafloor, you say leave the stock springs that are on it now or replace with new stock springs

When you order the valve springs from Kirban, also buy the 5 pack of ZDDPlus! It's worth it.

So are you getting any indication of valve float? if the motor(engine ) is running fine and at this time you are just trying to deal with leaks and timing chain, then I think you are probably smart not to mess with the valves. Here's why: in the future as you drive this car more and get your bucks up for upgrades you are probable gonna end up doing- turbo, cam, heads, injectors, alky. You will decide dependent on miles and whatever damage you've done to have the short block rebuilt or not. Because a stock good condition short block with those mods is capable of high tens, low elevens- after you fix the trans you break when first starting modding. For pure value sake the cars that have been preserved and tunes without mods are the ones with the most bang for the buck value. Enjoy my friend. You are welcome to call me.

Ditch the power master for a hydroboost. Lots of room with engine out. Also clean and paint the firewall if it needs it. Firewall should be shiny black like rest of the car.

twodafloor: i am not getting valve float that i can tell. I am also not going to be upgrading much on this car. I am looking for something else to mess with to go fast in. My GN only has a chip, upgraded fuel regulator, hotwire kit, power plate. Its going to be a cruiser/car show participant. That being said, should i leave the original valve springs in there. Mind you, it has 128k miles.

If you borrow my time machine, go back to 1987, and buy a brand new GN, the valve springs are weak. You're are 20 years old with 128,000 miles on them.
