I got my car i pieces and have been putting it back together.
The crank pulley assembly was off and I noticed the crank position sensor operates with a 3 window vane.
I assume this for the igntion timing and only needs 3 windows since its wasted spark with three coils.

What I don't understand is the cam position sensor.
Is this for the sequential fuel injection?

The two work together to tell the electronics where everything is at. The crank only tells when a piston is at TDC but not which piston. THe cam sensor tells when number 1 is up. At least that is how I understand it. there is a lot of info at Turbo Regal Web Site

The cam sensor tells the computer when to start the sequence for both the ignition and fuel injectors. I think it actually starts with #6 cylinder since the cam sensor is set 25* ATDC on cylinder #1.

Thx to all who answered and espeically bmack, that link has some great info.

the link actually answered my next question too, as I was wondering if the fuel delivery was delayed until the cam sensor synced for the sequential fuel delivery.
Not the case, as the system uses batch fire during cranking to get the car running sooner.

anyway, thx again!
