This is a non Turbo Buick related question. But I wanted some feedback. I have a '71 Buick Skylark that giving me some starting issues. Within the past month, I have replaced the battery, ignition key switch & tumbler, the actual ignition switch on the column, all new wiring, battery cables & neutral saftey switch. Alternator was also, just serviced & checked out.

Sometimes when I turn the key, the starter just clicks. Sometimes it will do once & start, other times it will do it several times & start. It even will click then start immediately with one turn of key. It was kind of doing this before replaced battery & neutral safety switch. I'm so confused right now. Any ideas would help. Thank you!

I also recently did have electronic ignition installed. & now that I think about it, the problems started shortly after that. Could that affect this?

There's no mention of changing out the starter motor or solenoid. Was the starter removed for the elec. ignition install? Maybe it was shimmed and the installers neglected to reinstall the shims causing the gear to bind?

Yeah, the starter was changed as well. No shims. I didn't mention the points were changed as well. Went to electronic. That actually might be some of the problem too.
