Well, I'm at that point.
I have a buyer for my 55 Chevy. So, I get it out to wash it, clean it up...Took it down the road. Got about 200 yards, BAM, the frikin hood wrapped over the roof!
Best I can tell, the safety hook did not engage.........

Hagerty is going to be happy w/ this mess............
AND, to boot I have $1K deductable!
I'll be SO GLAD when that thing is out of here.

You ain't a car guy until that happens to ya. I'll never forget getting on the highway and my GS hood wrapping over. It still has the marks on the back corners.

Did that with my Chevelle about 3o years ago, just saw red all of a sudden. Luckily I was going slow and it only tweaked the hinges a bit, no damage to the hood. Your hood is a goner unfortunately. Keep us posted on how Hagerty handles this. Really sucks. Any damage to the rest of the car or only the hood?

Yep. Scratched the tops of the fenders, and put a crease in the roof at the ft edge...All the body work can be done in a day, and put in primer. Paint another day or so.

My supplier has them new. I'm taking the car to my bud's rod shop. He has a first class painter, that will fix it, for a not so right price.

Never did the hood but left the drivers doors open as I was backing out of the garage 40 years ago and ripped it off leaving it on the garage floor on my 61 Chevy.

It's going to the BS on Monday. Once back, the prospective buyer should have the $$. It is going into "storage" until he either pays for it, or backs out of the deal...W/ my luck, I'd wreck it, and he'd say "no thanks"!
