Is there a difference in exhaust elbows from a garret housing and a precision housing? I had a ported exhaust housing that I used on my stock turbo that I tried to bolt up to my new TE44 with a precision housing and the old exhaust housing doesnt line up perfectly, the wastegate puck is also a little too small, it's the exact same size as the hole on the turbo.

Upgrade the elbows puck to a larger diameter to cover the hole and make some boost with it.

Will a larger puck fit in it? ....and where do you find a larger puck?

In that thread they say rjc, steve monroe, and keith mease sell them.
I know oversize pucks fit in the stock elbow, but i am not sure if you will have to grind the elbow to make the larger puck fit. I assume you would need it ground out a tad for clearence

hey brian whats up dude just bought a ta-49 and when i bolted it up i cant get no adjustment out of rjc valve before i could take it up to 30 to i have to get a bigger puck also? when i take off the hose it does climb past 20 now i can only get 14

Check to see if the puck seals over the wastegate hole, and also check to see if the puck is actually sticking inside the hole causing the car to spool slow.
On the last guys car, he purchased a brand new te44 and the hole was off 1/8th of a inch causing the puck to actually seat in the hole...If you take the wastegate arm off, and slap the puck to the exhaust housing 15-20 time and it stops short once..... this will be a issue.

I was able to enlarge the bolt holes on the elbow so i could make the puck seat alot better and keep from binding, it now covers the hole with 1/8th of a inch all the way around.
It would have just been easier to get the larger puck, but i was tight on time.
