I have a basically stock 87 except for a new walbro fuel pump and hot wire kit. I am going to order 60lb injectors and a tt chip.

Plus I am going to order a RJC 3'' downpipe, testpipe and 3'' crossflow. My question is if I order these parts from RJC am I going to need to buy anything else? Am I going to run into anyproblems trying to install this on a stock setup? Any info would be great

If your motor mounts are crapped out you might have a fitment issue.
Might need to get some new bolts for the down pipe. And depending how bad the turbo elbow is shoot it down with some PB blaster and let it sit. I've broken a few bolts in the turbo housing and had to use a drill and tap set to fix it. Would recommend an RJC plate for the intake while your at it. Also stock injector harness might be cracked and need replacement.

Uhmmmmmm.......Ear plugs? ;):D 3" single exhaust is loud and drones. Some love it, some don't don't. If you really want quiet the ONLY way to make ALL the drone dissapear is to use a three muffler system. No one makes one, so you'll have to find a good fabricator in your area to build it. (and bring your check book) Search "three muffler system" on here. Lots of good pictures and info. For those that say "My exhaust system doesn't drone", must have a hearing problem. Dennis Hogan is the guy that came up with the system and deserves all the credit. Find a good fabricator in your area and show him pictures off of here and have him make it. Pretty simple, but alot of work and a pretty good amount of money for "quiet". If you can live with 2200 RPM drone, buy what ever you want. Everything else WILL drone. I have installed/fabbed alot of different sytems over the last 25 years and found the ONLY way to eliminate drone is with a stock system (read SLOW) or the three muffler system. Adding a 3" muffler in place of the cat really doesn't help at all, either. YES.... I have tried that and even completely wrapped the ENTIRE exhaust system from cylinder head to tail pipe with thermal wrap to eliminate drone. Nope...didn't work. THAT took alot of effort and money. Bummer. It all depends on what you want in tone with your car. By the way.......Dennis runs 10.03 @136 so it doesn't slow the car down at all, either. (2.5" three mufflers in mandrel bent stainless) His race car had the same system in 3" and it ran 9.16@149. (Open down pipe on the chassis dyno only picked up 6 HP.)

I wish someone would build one. It takes me too long to do it. I would be willing to make a system for someone to send to CNC bender and copy. Anyone?.......Anyone....Bueller?? I personally HATE the 2200 RPM drone these cars have. But I'm old, too. I need to make another one soon. Anyone have a good CNC bender at their beck and call?

RJC's stuff fits like a glove...and the quality is top notch. Jasons 3" exhaust sounds awesome.

RJC is top notch, and Ken is correct w/the drone issue. Supposedly there is a muffler co. that came out w/a spring loaded door in the muffler to eliminate the drone, but I have no experience w/it. You have to drive slower than 45 or faster than 65 to avoid the noise. Ken is also correct about the older guys, the ears are still ringing long after the car is parked! I think the drone gets worse w/the bigger the turbo also.
Also as mentioned, get the RJC power plate and you will only need to change turbo's ( and maybe have the TT chip re-burned) for a big kick in the pants hp/tq improvement.

i have a duel 3 inch with 2 magnaflow mufflers no drones nice and quite hr motor mounts are gonna be a must specialy if your cars lowerd like mine you be bashing down pipe on the control arm and fram causing false knock which will then put you in my boat

No, you dont need motor mount . RJC downpipe comes with new bolts for the turbo side. Dont know about the rest of the system. You may need some at the cat hanger.

Where do you live? If you live close by we'll give you a ride in a 10.03 car that TRUELY doesn't have drone. I think you need hearing aids worse than I do. (and boy do I):D Seriously, I would love to give you a ride in a car with three mufflers (cross flow in the stock location)
A stock car does NOT need a 3" system. 2 1/4" is more than adaquate for a 500+ HP engine. Remember....I have been building exhaust systems for these cars for 25 years. So, stick with a nice 2 1/2" mandrel bent system and it'll be plenty for a 700HP combo if you ever want to go there. The drone is inherent to a Buick V6 due to firing pulses. Nothing you can do to fix that. But, if the dreaded 2200 RPM drone is hard to take, find a good fabricator to install a Ultra-Flow Cross flow muffler in the stock location. It completely eliminates all drone. (and it is the ONLY way to do it. PERIOD!!!!) I think Dennis has probably $3500-$4500 in exhaust system R&D over the last 20+ years. Thank him. His car is very quiet until he nails it, then it's still quiet, but has a nice sound. Cops don't even look at his car. (even going 100 mph past 'em):D ( J/K of course.......he NEVER drives 100mph.);) If you are ever in the Seattle area we will gladly take you for a spin. Or on the Hot Rod Power tour this year. (he'll be there. God willing and the creek don't rise, and we can finish his "street" car in time)

as stated 2.5 is more then enaugh 3 each unless you have a very well done system you will have clearance issus if you look under my car mufflers arent level and they still hit the coil springs if i hit a hard enaugh bump but then again thats my fault for buying a exhaust from muffler tech any body that takes and extra week to ship because he dosnt have boxes shouldnt be trusted

Turbofabricator please lend your exhaust experience.

I have a 94 RX7 with full 3" single exhaust with oval 3" in , 2x 2 1/2" out muffler in stock location. ( muffler outlets open at rear bumper )
Exhaust note is deep but LOUD ! & drones .

Was going to add a 4" od racing muffler or resonator right after down pipe to quiet it drown.

Think this is worth while to quiet the car down ?

Probably will make minimal difference.(probably NO difference in drone) I just fabbed a 3" single for an RX-8 a couple weeks ago. (my son's car) Single muffler WITH cat converter. It was alot quieter than I figured it would be. The rotary's are a strange breed. They sound weird at ANY RPM. PM me and we can discuss your options over the phone. Or are you running a Buick V6? Call me anyway.
With a cross flow (dual pass Ultra-Flow) the opposing pulses cancel each other out. It really is amazing how quiet a three muffler system is on a Buick. It AIN'T easy to make it all fit nicely, but it has ZERO down side to it except for weight and cost............but......Drone NO more! IF you do an in depth research and analyzation, you will figure out it works on the "FM" principle...........................................................................................Effin' Magic:D

I took off aero chamber mufflers and replaced them with the dynomax vt . Night and day difference.
