Finally took the tranny that came with the car apart but don't think it is the correct one for a GN. Anyone know what this may be?

The second pic is slightly blocked where the painted on code goes.
The pics "look" (from what I can see) to be a CQ. Which is a Monte SS version. The governor, although it has an orange gear, does not look like any performace governor I have ever seen. It would explain your low WOT shifts.

From what I see on the VB it looks like a BQ. I could be wrong. If it is a BQ it is from an 84/85 GN and a good VB also.

I just did a little research on this subject myself. From what I was told you should see 2 sets of numbers and a letter on the valves on the side of the valve body. The valves are all on the same side but the numbers and letters are on different valves. They should be 15, 14 and the letter F for a BRF body and 15, 19, and the letter F for a BQ body. My BQ body has 15, the letter F, and the number 6 or 9 but it looks to be a weak stamping as half of the 6 or 9 is hardly there. The governor should have only one spring if it's a turbo Regal part. I hope this helps and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.
