Hey guys, I am pulling my hair out over this. I just blew off and destroyed my second intercooler pipe. There was an explosion in the pipe. I had just made a quick 1st and 2nd gear pull before this. I was rolling about 35 mph in second gear when I stuck it. It came up on boost and the convertor flashed to about 4400 rpm then boom. I have checked for proper operation of the fuel regulator and all vacuum lines are push lock fittings. It has a deastchwerks pump on a racetronix hot wire kit. From the info I got on the pull I did before the boom, wot AFR is good at 10.2. My only guess is that the load on the motor , rpm of the motor and the alky spraying aren't getting along. Any ideas?

Are you using silcon hoses with the good clamps? Do you have a blow-off valve? Sounds like the pipe is just coming off due to the high pressure.

It's defiantly not just from a loose clamp. Been there done that. There was an loud explosion. It's happened before and last time it split a silicone hose.

Tomorrow I am going to check the plugs, relash the valves, make a new intercooler pipe and check the end play on the cam sensor then reset it. I am suspicious of the fuel regulator though. I had it stick one time and it was just bypassing fuel. It's not doing that right now though. It's a billet one from Kirbans. I will check over all lines and such also. Scratching my head on this one.

Pulled plugs. They looked good. Little bit rich but that's ok. Made a new intercooler pipe. compression was 150-155 on all cylinders. Going to retime cam sensor tomorrow and also check for endplay in it. I'll check the rocker arm/valve lash if I have time. Got a big car show tomorrow.

Slop in timing chain? Cracked plug, old /bad plug wire? Look at you engine running in the dark and see if you get a light show under the hood from wires...

I think I may have figured it out. I retimed the cam sensor this morning after inspecting it. Not sure what kind of end play it's supposed to have but it seemed good though. When I first installed these new lifters I pulled the cam sensor to prime everything with oil. I took a picture of the position of it but didn't use a dvom to set it exactly. I am thinking that The first time i had timed it rotating going clockwise until the voltage dropped instead of counterclockwise. I made a third gear pull at 20psi and all was acting right. I think that I had the cam sensor timed wrong and with the little but of slack it has the window was off just enough to wreak havoc. Thoughts??

The cam sensor does not control ignition timing.

I know that. What I was thinking is that the fueling was out of time and spraying on the wrong cylinder. I honestly am grasping at straws trying to reason why this happened. It seems ok now after Changing the plugs, resetting the cam sensor properly, and checking compression. I am running an SD chip btw.

Make sure your front crankshaft pulley is tight, if it comes loose the crank sensor can't do it's job, this will make things go Boom !!! Ask me how I know...

That is very possible.
