Staying at a relatives cottage. The router is in the main house and only get a signal in the bedroom standing at the window. It's a new router. Dont want to buy a new router....it's not my place. What can I do for my laptop to get a better signal.....thanks.

This is for a short period of time and dont need to stream video. Just get a signal further than the back window ledge. Something low cost.

Tent a piece of tinfoil around the backside of it to direct more signal toward you. I did this in a bedroom and it helped a little. However tinfoil has gotten expensive so you'll have to decide if this is low cost. haha

Your best low cost would just to go buy however long of a ethernet cord you need and plug in. Fast and cheap. When finished unplug and put away. best I can think of.

Thanks tried the aluminum foil trick. Not really an improvement. The Ethernet cable should work but it's really rainy an windy right now. It's really muddy right now. Would have to be really really long to keep it off the ground and out of peoples way. Was hoping there was an external antenna I can plug into my computer. I have a bunch of old G routers. I know the airport express acts as a repeater. Not sure about my old linksys.
