What is the easiest wat to remove the hood emblems on a the TR? They seem to be held on with a 3M like tape. One side is cracked and I would like to replace the pair so they match.
Use a very thin fishing line (or you could try a strong dental floss) and "saw" your way from one end of the emblem to the other. Works like a charm. For the life of me I forget what I used to take off the residual adhesive. Could have been WD40...
Get a spool of 50lb test Spiderwire (fishing line) , it's super thin for its break strength , and made from spectra 2000 . Be sure to wrap it around 2 handles because it will cut you if you use too much force . I use it for replacing springs when I strip down my guns for cleaning , hell I have even used it in my toilet from the flush arm to the flapper valve and still there 3 years later !!
Heat gun X2. If paint is original and brittle pulling the emblem off could take some paint with it in chunks...
It happened on one of my GN's when I tried to pull some stick on molding.
Got them off with dental floss then cleaned the surface with 3M adhesive remover. Used painters tape before doing anything to make sure the emblems went right back where they came off. Thanks for the advice!
