external oiling stage I?

I need to drill the hole in the back of my stage 1 block for externall oiling, can this be drilled easily, and the size of 1/2 npt, or would 3/8 npt be enough?

No one's ever externally oiled a stage 1 block? i find this hard to believe!

We use 1/2 NPT on stage 1 and 2 blocks.
