heys guys i have a question are the factory boost solenoid's the same on our cars as the intercooled ones ? in other words will one off an 86/87 work on my hot air? they look identical but thought id ask first thanks

I do not know the answer to your question. I actually have disconnected mine and run the vacuum line directly from the turbo to the wastegate actuator. Make sure you adjust the wastgate actuator rod to your correct boost levels at the same time. This may work in your application and save you a few bucks. I am running 20 ibs boost and the boost level is holding just fine without the wastegate solinoid. Brad

Interesting I'm kinda Understanding what u did to urs and what ur saying so u ended getting rid of that plastic Y fitting as well since ur going direct from turbo to wastegate right? If so that does eliminate one vacuum line on the wastegate solenoid of the 2 that it has what did u do with the other vacuum line on the solenoid?

I have switched to a single hose actuator. Remove the Y fitting and run the vacuum line directly to the turbo from the drivers side of the dual hose wastegate actuator. Leave the passenger side of the dual wastegate actuator vacuum line to the vacuum block. Cap off the open vacuum line from the PCV vacuum line tee which goes to the other side of the waste gate solinoid. Test and adjust the wastegate actuator rod to your boost level. If it holds your boost level all is good. Brad

Thanx for that info brad very helpful and makes sense might give that a try so what is the point of the stock boost solenoid if it can just be bypassed like that? Does removing it affect anything else? I mean is it considered a sensor that will throw a code or something like that when removed? I don't recall if it's a plug I'll have to check it out
