False Knock. need advise

I'm not loosing it and I'm wondering if this is normal.

If I have my car in OD and it changes from first to second, I get knock. Approximately 4-6 degrees.
If I have my car in drive and it changes from first to second, I do not get knock.
Is this normal?

To get a little knock on the shift is normal but it should not matter od or manual shift. These cars from the factory had a really sloppy 1-2 manually(soft). Maybe in od it shifts harder causing this. Possible....

They appear to shift the same. Odd, very odd.
